Mirin writers. I just started my first attempt at a book today. It got me so deep into my imagination, that I felt like I was playing with toys again as a kid. I'm critiquing myself real hard already though, and feel that I start sentences off with the word "the" way too much.

I use to write ****gy poetry a ton, but writing a novel is a whole different story.

edit: I plan to use what I finished today as a Prologue. Around 900 words, and it took me a good chunk of time.

Been a rough past few days boyos. Got some days off to take care of some business with the family. Returned to work today getting less than 2 hours of sleep. Can't keep myself awake. Gonna try to write the last few hours with the help of some caffeine but it's unlikely.

1800 words tonight. Completed the second draft of the short story and onto the 3rd draft. It's short enough that I can probably finish it by next week and turn it in.

Finally unbanned. Been writing consistently though, didn't slack off at all. Finished the third draft of the short story and now on the 4th, not taking time off because I did want to send it in by the end of this week, so I'm trying to meet that goal.

Edit: 2200 words last night.

I was supposed to but missed the deadline because of the same mental disease that's been with me from the start. You know when you thought your work is ready and confident and the next day you find an angle you don't like, and you try to fix it which creates even more problems. I kept on fixing and fixing the draft and it keeps deviating from the outline and in each of the draft I have a different ending, etc... it's a pain in the ass.
This time i'm submitting this piece of shyt for real though, not to a contest unless I find one, but to a magazine. i don't expect for it to be accepted, just maybe I can learn to deal with submitting and being rejected.

Wasn't supposed to be on the computer tonight but I snuck on one anyway and jammed out 1200 words, completing the fourth draft st 4.7k. Not sure it's submission ready but at the least some grammar/spelling touch up need to be done.

No computer work today, planned out the 5th draft with a pen and the printed manuscript. About 65% through it, mostly prose polish and grammar/spelling edit. The typing out should be a breeze though.

Damn didn't realize it had been a week since I've updated the thread. Like last posted, I've been planning the 5th draft with pen and paper and since I was able to work away from the computer I forgot to update the thread. Planning process on the 5th draft for the short is done, only needed to be typed up now.

Feeling like I'm gonna get sick, so progress might slow. Also I'm training Muay Thai 5-6 days a week now in preparation for my upcoming fight, so that will even take away more of my time. Now I'm sleeping 3 hours a day but I'm adjusting. Gotta make this work.

Forgot the draft of the short story at home so i've been outlining the 4th draft of the novel. Progressing finely.

Forgot the short story at home again so I worked on the novel draft instead. Continued the outline and then wrote the chapters based on it. Before that, however, I spent about 20 minutes reading Blue Highways on the computer to get that literary juice flowing, because William Least heat-moon is an amazing writer and he inspires me.

Happy Monday brehs!

1700 words on the 5th draft of short story tonight. Taking my time to polish the prose. I should be done with the 5th draft in the next couple days provided I'm awake enough to sneak onto the computer. lord knows I only sleep 3 hours a day now. I think this story needs at least 1 more draft before it's polished enough to send out. I'm totally behind on my appointed deadline but whatever, I know this is very long game so I'm not rushing.

I'm getting into screenwriting now, I'm at an interesting crossroads right now where I'm painfully aware my stories are missing things that could make them great,and I'm trying to absorb media (books/podcasts/movies) and figure that thing out. I think if I don't, I'll be stuck in the realm of the mediocre...

Whatever you do brah, consistency is important. Make sure your routine/practice is simple and easy enough that you can do 7 days a week for years. Imo that's more important than intense practice.

5th draft of the short story is done at 5.5k words. Got a feeling there will be some changes to the prose but the story is pretty much set in stone. Like I said, it will require at least 1 more draft before I'm satisfied, perhaps more. IDK. The rest of the hour I'll spend working on the novel's 4th draft.

Last 1.5 hour was used to work on the 4th draft of the novel. Only got 1.2k words but they flowed well and I felt very creative writing them.

Read the 5th draft of my short story to my wife, she was extremely impressed with it, but I cannot take it too seriously because she's my wife, but it does make me feel pretty good. Working on foot tonight so won't be able to write. Tomorrow back at it tho.

I'm surprised that i got some writing done last night on the 5th draft of the novel. 1600 words. It's so much easier and smoother to write with the assistance of an outline. I was able to focus more on the prose because the events and dialogue had already been writing prior. Tonight's writing session will be interesting.

1400 words on 4th draft of novel. Slow writing but very satisfied at how it's coming out. I should finish the first chapter by Friday, which will end with a very nice, page turning hook. I'm going to read said chapter to the wife this weekend and I think she'll love it.

Alright boyos, chapter 1 of draft 4 of novel is complete (8k words). Hopefully I will be able to read it to my wife for feedback this weekend if she's not a biotch. I will return to the 6th draft of the short story and work on that so I can send it out.
