My choice would be number 2. Great design. Small seconds, date at 3. As long as it is about 38-40mm. It would be perfect
the visodate never quite grabbed me because i don't like the asymmetry that day-date at 3 creates, it is a complication that is best served at 6 or 12. I also don't like gold coloring or plating under most circumstances

Okay I see what you mean. I have 7 watches right now, nothing really high end besides one other Tissot. I realised I have nothing with a classy white face and this Hamilton really caught my eye.
Okay, last choice between the Hamilton and this Tissot?

ohhhhhhhh so this is where we go to post watches. I posted my new pickup in the "ITT we post stylish things" thread and no one gives a fuk lmao.
Anyways, quick background story I didn't know chit about watches even 6 months ago. I'd just buy some random bulova/citizen with a leather strap and just use it as a fashion accessory more than anything.
Yeah well I had a work trip to Switzerland last December, and when you get off the plane in Zurich ALL you see is huge gorgeous billboards for TagH, IWC, etc. I looked down at my poverty $200 quartz citizen and was like fuarrrrrk. I legit took it off my wrist and put it in my pocket because of how ashamed I was.
Visited a couple boutiques while I was in town did my own research, and after two months of fighting against my own budget/wants ratio I finally got my first "nice" Swiss watch.
Dial finishing
Strap shot. Black Hirsch Heavy Calf strap with contrast white stitching
General profile shot. Watch looks sick paired with a leather jacket.
It's the last gen Oris Artix GT Chrono. I got it "Like-New/Near Mint" condition with box and papers for an absolute steal. I have a 18 cm (7 inches and change) wrist, dial is 44mm. Comes with your "par for the course" Valjoux 7750 movement, but it's clearly modified to accommodate the seconds-bar on the left side of the case. The Hirsch strap is nice, but it is an absolute son of a btch to break in. The padded portion nearest the case is so ****ing thick and does not want to mold, whereas the OG oris strap was soft, supple, and lined with suede hnnnnnng. It was just black leather with black stitching so a little too subtle. Hopefully this Hirsch works out.
Next watch I'll work toward over the next year will have some sort of world or gmt function. I'm pretty global so it would have practical use in my day to day life. Looking at the Nomos Zurich (~4.5k grey market) and the Breitling Chronoliner (~5.5k grey market). I'm a muscular dude so I think I can pull off the 46mm caseLast edited by W1LLW; 02-21-2018 at 01:18 PM.

A lot of manufacturers make watches in the same style as the Hamilton, it's a 'marine' watch, styled like old sailing chronometers. Longines make one with regular style lugs:

But i really like the Hamilton, and you can't go wrong for the price.
GJDM, I had a oris aquis for a few years, great watches. I took it off one day and left it in the centre console of my car. Forgot about it and drove for a few days, wasn't so pretty after thatLast edited by Ilovemygf; 02-21-2018 at 03:31 PM.

Used Speedmaster reference 3570.50 on the limited production 1498/840 bracelet with the 20mm-16mm vintage-style taper. Snagged for $2,250 on eBay after the seller discounted it for me because of a missing link. He threw in a custom Swiss ammo pouch strap and 3 natos. Like, what? Who does that? Awesome guy.

As far as Hamiltons, Recently saw the Khaki Aviation Day Date, then this review confirmed I wantz it bad.
https://youtu.be/FEg4LOy4QnA
I'll be keeping an eye out soon to see if it really is selling at or under $600, it'd be my most expensive if I do buy it.
I love that the skeletonized hands serve a purpose and the day actually snaps at midnight and not slowly creeps starting around 11pm like some watches.MFC

Exactly. The absolute most unpractical feature I've ever seen on a watch but it's pretty neat and makes it unique.
Also... that awkward watch snob moment when your watch has a date function but it's not a perpetual calendar. You're diddybopping around the office, typing away an email, you stop to check the time and admire your dial...
...and to your absolute disgust it says the 29th when it's clearly march 1st. You IMMEDIATELY stop all other tasks to correctly set the date and hope no one noticed your poor time keeping.

Ok what would you do MWC? These are currently on my radar:
(Yes I like blue)
I absolutely love JLC and I've no doubt that the movement, fit and finish are superior... but Rolex is Rolex and I do feel like I should own one at some point, and the DJ is iconic and I do love that watch. Plus there's the value retention factor, if I do need to make my money back some day, which I'm not rich enough to be able to ignore. My gut says the DJ, and wait til I'm a bit older and save up for a JLC perpetual or something.

i was the same way but now i've gone full circle and appreciate the brand. will prob get the BLNR in the next month or so.
also collecting watches for awhile had me realize that tastes changes. even watches i thought would be keepers i have sold, so value retention is still something i look for (although it isn't the first on my list).

IME, the Rolex thing is less about taste as a majority of their watches are tasteful. My issue with the brand is that they're the #1 watch for someone who finally made a little bit of money, knows nothing about watches, and walks into a store to buy a "Rollie" because that's the only luxury watch brand they know.
Obviously this doesn't characterize everyone, but invariably the people who wear a watch to convey the image of wealth are always wearing a Rolex. This account was created for the purpose of roleplaying and satire.
