Thoughts on this? Saw this on ********, apparently Edge has a 6x4' basic belt squat for $995 shipped (upgraded option for more), and the range of motion appears to be excellent! This seriously could be one of my next purchases, love the idea of taking the stress of heavy squatting off my back.

I have one. Mine I guess is the Standard version. I bought mine a few months ago before it was on the site. Mine has the handles, band pegs, and I ordered the row handle as well. I'm very happy with mine for the price. My wife and I each use ours for 2-3 leg days a week each. I also use the row handle for shrugs and rows. Plus my wife runs some of her personal training clients on it. So far it has held up great.

My wife (and I) has been itching for a belt squat to add to our gym. The footprint as well as the price point on this is very attractive to us. I watched most of their videos of it on their ******** and I like that it still provides full range without the platform.
Edge Fitness has quite a bit of things that I want to order truthfully. All in due time.

BUMP.
I am thinking of buying the Edge belt squat.
Still recommend it?
Anything you wish you had gotten as an option but didn't?
Can you easily do the walks/marching that other belt squat machines let you do? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4fDli6eyFY

Wouldn't impact me but may impact some people here: On the basic belt squat it states:
- Recommended for moderate weight training but can handle heavy weight. For those planning to use heavier weight (500 lbs+), we recommend the Standard Belt Squat.{5'7" and under #1}

Initial impressions since picking up a basic one used are VERY positive for me! Although the first thing I would note is that if you plan on using a Spud belt with this thing I think you will bottom out easily before parrallel, so you would need Rick's belt or maybe the women's Spud which is significantly shorter. Second, with 375lbs for reps the machine itself had a fair amount of side-to-side movement in the swing arm (but not overly alarming). I'm guessing with the 'Basic' since the front doesn't have the additional handle holders (and weight) it might walk quite a bit with 500lbs+ swinging around. So I would personally say if you plan on doing marching movements with the machine the cable version is probably a safer bet, or you would have to add pegs and load it down considerably.
It's interesting though because in some of Rick's responses on ******** when the older models launched he states "Can hold more weight than you can lift", but it seems at some point the current 'Standard' model used to be refered to as their 'Basic'. Either way, I'm looking forward to putting this thing through an ENTIRE workout tonight and trying to push 500lbs or more to see what happens in terms of stability. Maybe Narc will chime in soon, since he has had WAAYY more time with his than me.
(Previously called 'basic' on ********, now appears to be their 'standard')

Still playing around with the belt squat, here is an example of bottoming out without building up a platform. I can get pretty low, but would like to take it just a hair deeper. Bent over rows felt really nice though with the MAG grip, facing the machine felt fine to me so I didn't bother with swinging around. When the time comes I plan on buying the standard version, I like having the band pegs and the handles to hold onto. The 'Deluxe' version is sweet looking but probably overkill for my intended use.

I like the space savings nature of the design. I made a belt squat and decided to make a traditional cable platform type. At the time i had more room free in gym. I still have to paint it and do adjust a few things but have not been in a rush because i have to get rid of something to make room for it. The leverage type definitely have the footprint advantage!
Ill eventually make room fir this beast, but for now its staying in the garage disassembled
Obviously the guide rods, carriage and few other parts were not on unit when pic was taken. I still need to clean up some welds and then sand and paint it.
