With all that is going on politically these days, how difficult has life been living in Communist California, especially as a young, Caucasian male? I think I'd blow my brains out. Illinois is the liberal capital of the Midwest and I'm at my threshold with the political ignorance and narrow-mindedness of the regressive left.

You're the one I should be asking since you recently came over from Florida. But I've lost interest. I've been reading too much about policy lately and how everyone is leaving Illinois over the last five years compared to other states and I think it's obvious why to its residents. But I might as well go into a politics thread and ask them something like which Cannondale cyclocross model is most fun to ride. I have a bad habit of derailing this thread. I just hate the rest of the misc so much.

It was a leap of faith, my friend. And to be hones, the jury is still out to whether it was the best decision.

Taking out the MTB today. Have been riding more road lately (as a function of commuting, as well as recreation) and enjoying it.
Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

Good ride in the dirt today! No pics.
Just installed a new lever on my road bike to update the 1990 Shimano 600 levers. Feels good! Can't wait to take it out tomorrow. Actually managed to salvage my grips and re-use them after installing new lever. My grips aren't white so I don't have that headache of constantly re-wrapping with new.
EDIT: although I did previously make the mistake (early on) of purchasing white road bar tape.Last edited by HMFIC_BROWSIN; 01-08-2017 at 12:59 PM.

Yes, another evangelical post in reverence to TrainerRoad...
I completed the 8 week Sustained Power Build - Mid Volume program over the weekend...I did my 20 minute FTP test this morning and the results are in:
Starting FTP = 282W
Midway FTP = 284W
Finishing FTP = 300W
6% improvement over 8 weeks with very strict compliance to the program.
Next week I'll start the 8 week-long Climbing Road Race-Mid Volume TR program to take me into spring.

Conti GP 4000 S II
Great tire. I use mine on road and trainer and no flats and lighter than Gator Skins.
If you are in Texas or anywhere else with those little burr things you might want to go with Gatorskins.
I did HHH a few years ago and saw so many flats. The roads there suck too.Coffee Crew: Bold Black Crew

well, i originally had conti ultra sports before and the rear tire like always goes out way faster. has cuts and knicks but i dont think they went all the way through yet. looks nerve racking anyway. just had another flat in the snow few days ago and was like fook it, its time to get another tire. i shouldnt even been riding in the snow. i could have fixed it but wasnt gonna due to the cold , while i can just walk home with the same amount of time to fix it. i did have them on a motor bike and pinch flat were the worst in the summer area for me. i bought 10 tubes thinking it wood last me a year but they were all used in less than 6. i do try to pump them up as hard as i can. fyi the tire only went about 800 miles.
i bought the gatorskin folding 700x28. i hope with the price i paid, i get atleast 1500 miles before replacing.Sig line can't be a novel

Bought a crappy trainer to get me through the next couple months. Then I had to get a different rear skewer, a trainer tire, and a new tube for that tire. All set up now and I'm going to do the first ride on it tonight.

the conti. ultra sports you have now have two little indentions on them in the center. those are the wear indicators. when you wear those down, it is a gauge to tell you when to change them(or if you get frequent flats).
some people take the front tire that is not worn and put it on the back, and put a new tire on the front.
