    Sumo vs. Conventional Deadlift

Would you say it's fine to either ONLY do conventional or ONLY sumo deadlifts?
Basically why I'm asking is because for me personally I find a bit of a wider stance and closer grip (Not full-on sumo stance but a kind've inbetween) is more comfortable and somehow it helps me activate my lower back muscles better, which is weird because I've read that sumo is supposed to incorporate more hips and glutes and is LESS stressfull on the lower back.
What are your thoughts on this?

    What do you mean, "fine"...?!

Is it possible to develop a lot of strength and muscle while omitting a single exercise out of hundreds? Yes.

There isn't really an inbetween. Some people call it a hybrid or whatever, but legs outside of arms = sumo. Nothing wrong with this style, Ed Coan lifted 901 pounds like this. I've switched to sumo before, but ended up switching back. you might find your forms constantly evolves. There is a lot of carry over between the 2 lifts.

Is it acceptable, or will it create imbalances (And thus injuries in the future)?

In isolation, not performing a single exercise will not (ever) create imbalances or injuries.

    I dont see why not.

The type of 'deadlift' you're speaking of sounds like the hybrid deadlift which I know a few people who do this only.

I used to just do Sumo because my conv deadlift form was fooked and 'mobility' reason. I now only do conventional because my form / mobility is good.

Depends on you and your goals. If you prefer sumo, do sumo. If you prefer conventional, do conventional. Of course the main thing is too is that you have to get your form right. No use doing a sumo if your form is crap and your conventional form is good.

Sumo is a bit quad heavy so you may want to throw in some RDLs into your program, or perhaps use a low-bar squat.

It depend on you. I know huge people who have a problem with conventional because their legs are really long and they need to bend over really far. Sumo makes it a shorter reach.

You could do all your deadlifts one legged and it not create an imbalance so there's not going to be a problem with fine tuning a DL between conventional and full blown sumo. Lots of guys do it. If that works best for you then don't worry about it.
