Stumbled across Oceans Ate Alaska recently. Really digging the progressive style and makes for a refreshing change from of a lot new metalcore being released. Liked the diversity with the vocals as well. Plus the drummer is fkn nuts. This is sort of the direction where I hoped Northlane would go after 'Singularity' but instead we got the 'Node' album which was meh.
^^A couple songs off their latest album, but whole album is solid gold as far as I'm concerned.
Can anybody recommend bands with a similar sound?

Been listening to a lot of Erra lately. The Augment album is sick. The solo in Rebirth is hnggg, tons of dope songs. Mirin the Erra song posted above, but I think they've always had a melodic style. That one song isn't as heavy as previous Erra songs though.

I like them both. Honestly, I'm not a fan of screaming/roaring or whatever you call it, but I've kind of gotten used to it. In some, rare cases, I find it to be almost percussive, like an instrument. Rebirth is a PERFECT example of that. It's one of the only songs I can look at and think that it just sounds awesome. On the other hand, the actual instruments are amazing. Jesse is a sick guitarist. This solo is so melodic, wish I could play it on repeat all day.
I've been spreading the word about the band. They're way underappreciated.

I will give Impulse some more time probably next week. I have Augment on repeat. This whole album is reminiscent of Tool in terms of how the music synchronizes together to compose a much larger work of art. Every song is the chit, and most have some catchy part to them. The intro to Alpha Seed is hngg, Frostbite is sick, Rebirth solo is now one of my favorite solos ever (and I've got a pretty big list). Crimson and Dementia are just crazy good as well.
This band is the chit. They truly create art within their music. Also mirin some of their lyrics. I think some of them are too wordy, but I appreciate they're not all about chit we've heard a hundred times from every other band. They're original is what I'm saying.

So I'm in the process of learning guitar. I've been getting into it a lot over the past couple months. I can play some Metallica stuff (Master of puppets riff, Fade to black intro solo, One intro and some of the first solo, etc). I want to get a lot better but I guess I'm not sure where to go. I know some chords and am capable of making my own simple songs which I have done. But I want to be able to improvise and create solos, more importantly play ones that I really like (Fade to Black outro, that Erra solo, and many more).
Any brahs have tips? Where do I go from here? I mean I know I can practice, but I do that now. I practice 1-2 hours a day, sometimes more. I guess I'm just looking for certain techniques to learn to be able to play various music.
Individual skills I need to work on are like precision, speed, chord transitions, and such, but I just want to know what I should learn. You brahs understand what I'm asking? Sorry if this isn't a good place to discuss this. Feel free to PM me.

word not feeling this at all. the first one was better but its still a huge downgrade from their old sound. lyrics are bland as hell and overall its lacking that technicality and aggression, sounds like every other generic band now. brb buying noose
