British actress Emily Blunt.
"I became an American citizen recently,” she told The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto Film Festival, “and that night, we watched the Republican debate, and I thought, 'This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?'”
hahahaha fox new got so mad at her and told her to leave hollywood. She apologized, but I dont blame her for saying what she said. I thought it was funny and she is right.Bulls--Bears

Poverty isn't a choice. It's just something people are born into and/or somehow persist in for one reason or another. Rich isn't subjective either given the proceeding context of a millionaire turned billionaire.
Someone who works their ass off doesn't guarantee that they'll have a great amount of disposable income to invest. Living pay check to pay check on minimum wage comes to mind. Plus a crappy job market. And acquiring further skills requires going back to school or finding a trade, which itself costs money. So if it were as simple as "just save money and invest and become rich" then I'd be wealthy already, lol.

oh man this has been a great thread to eat my post-workout meal to.
10/10
repping those that made logical (read again: logical, not emotional) arguments.
There's an interesting dichotomy in the two sides of this abortion debate. Half of yall are presenting things like facts and statistics. The other half are speaking on broad platitudes and generalizations (and that's split between both sides of the argument).
But yeah abortion is totally fine with me. People make mistakes - and 100% srs if my parents were going to bring me into a miserable existence, and they knew it and didn't want to put me behind the 8 ball for life, wouldn't even be mad if they didn't keep me. Dunno what that says about me. Logic is my king, emotion doesn't really do it for me."He had never wished for anything else but to be a man, live in a manly way, die a manly death. To be thus a man was to give constant proof of one’s manliness–to be more a man today than yesterday, more a man tomorrow than today. To be a man was to forge ever upward toward the peak of manhood, there to die amid the white snows of that peak."

If you find yourself "agreeing" with everything one particular party says, odds are you are not free thinking at all. Amazes me how both sides of the isle are deluded into "me vs them" battles which keeps that party in power. This is the reason the founding fathers were against parties, because idiots lose their free thought.

Haha and this is exact why we need affirmative action. You claim it is all based on race. No it is to give minorities who are qualified a chance, instead of being looked over because the color of their skin.
I find it funny any time a minority gets a job, the white person that got turned down will blame it on affirmative action and claim they were more qualified. The funniest thing is they always say, "the interviewer told me they would have hired me because I was more qualified, but they needed to reach a quota.". I swear that is always the excuse. First off, no company would ever tell the person that got turned down that race was the reason why. People will always blame skin color when in reality, the minority is actually just as qualified as the white person. If the white person is more qualified and better for the job, they will get it. If the minority and the white person have the same qualifications, yes odds are the minority will get picked. But lets not act like the minority still isnt as qualified.Bulls--Bears

And yet it leads to race based quota systems which result in hiring unqualified minorities. *Edit* Saw where you mentioned this. Uh, yes, quotas exist. The funny thing is that they have to hire certain amounts of minorities to meet diversity requirements, even if they don't have that many minority applicants. I find it ironic that you believe that minorities get passed over due to their race, but that you scoff at it happening to white people.
Think about it. Black people are around 12% of the population in the US. Why should they ever be more represented than 12%? It makes sense that certain demographics will be a majority of those hired when.. *gasp* there's more applicants of that demographic.Last edited by InstantLoser; 09-22-2015 at 08:25 PM.

Incredibly out of context chart. Missing large demographics of scores, and entirely ignoring the numerical # of applicants from each racial demographic. Last year the total # of African American matriculants to medical schools (MD only) was 1,227 out of to 20,343. That's between 6% and 7% of American medical school matriculants being AA. Just over 12% of the general population is AA. Hardly equal distribution.
Hear hear*. Jesus, dude.*Misc Med Crew*
