I thought the squat was parallel so a little high, gonna have to agree to disagree on the "nowhere close" thing.

I put the max 30 lbs heavier that seems reasonable no? Did week 1 yesterday it was quite fun. Not sure what to do with my bench and squat atm tbh.
i was considering just front squatting while I'm running the program to keep some load off of my back.
Was considering doing
CP/Bench/off/Squat/Bench/Off
what do you guys think?Liverpool F.C.

twas a joke
sometimes i take powerlifting very very seriously and am of the mind of upholding the integrity of the sport to its utmost...
sometimes I'm like...we're not really in a sport, we're in a performance art

IMO, if powerlifting is to move forward it should be looked at as a sport. At least by powerlifting competitors.

Sick squatting, Bill. Dat depth!
I don't have a problem with Eric L., except that the meet where he set the 275 record was (according to IPA and other stuff I read on the net) confirmed not to even have a scale with which to weigh people in with. There were other problems, but this seems the one that applies to Eric. Other lifters were spotted heavily throughout the lift, for example Ernie Jr.
I don't think Eric's squat depth was the issue at all. But if the IPA finds out that the meet was not performed to IPA standards, they should revoke its sanctioning across the board, as well as all the lifts done at the meet. That's really the only clean option to me.
The most damning thing about the entire controversy is that there were multiple accusations of no scale being used at the meet weigh ins, and these were not once (in the comments I saw) contradicted by a single lifter or person at the meet. That says a lot to me. Also the fact that it looks like the only 275 lb Eric L. in that video is the one that the 320 lb Eric L. ate before doing that squat.
If I am wrong about there being no scale, please correct me.Last edited by breathinglife; 07-28-2015 at 02:13 PM.

I think most of Jr's 198 meets have been of the backyard variety ?

exactly this ^^^
I've peaked very well with it 3x hitting better than expected DLs in meet's each time but definitely don't overreach it won't help will only hurt IMO. My last meet I ran it and only worked up to I think 450 for my last single before comp because I was so fried (programmed in 465 I think) at that point and with the added rest leading to the meet I hit 474. I think if I pushed it much more in training it wouldn't have yielded that nice of a peak IMO
I didn't do the circuits either
he went 198 at a UPA meet me and mitch did april of 2014. I talked to a few people who thought they weighed in a lot lighter than expected that meet too for the record. I hovered around 210 most of training for that meet and I ate Portillo's on my way to weigh ins and came in at 205
edit: by the way more people need to take the "IDGAF about what I weigh in at so much that I'm going to eat Portillo's on the way to weigh ins" approach. I'm telling you it's greatLast edited by FenderElectrics; 07-28-2015 at 02:50 PM.

Yeah I didn't do the circuit yesterday. I don't think I will do it like a circuit considering the program was originally made for a strong man competitor so I'm assuming the circuit was made as a form of conditioning since that's important in strongman competitions.

I'm not going to point any fingers specifically, but I've had more than one meet director at small meets tell me "not to worry about it" if I was a few lbs over, but I've always stripped down until I was a legit 181 (or whatever weight I'm competing at) because I'm not going to cheat, even if it is OK with meet director.
Not even having a scale though? That's egregious.637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.

I didn't know Hoornstra was doing BOB. He just put up a clean/easy 650 at 251. Says he's lifting as a 242er.

yup
lol
Yea I was going to bring that up too. And even with rehydration methods etc... He did NOT look near 198. Not saying you can tell anything by that, he could have had a perfect recomp but who knows.
I just think its funny that meet gets brought up as the start of the not weighing in thing when me and Bcalv both made a comment back then about it being crazy he made 198 with how he looked.
Also yea I ended up like 5-7lbs light on that scale as well.Last edited by Mitch666; 07-28-2015 at 05:07 PM.
