I want to do lyle upper lower routine. But 3x a week full body is recommended a lot here. Thing is 5x5 routines take around 1.5hrs like icf. I workout in work so I've around an hour every day .
Question is will I still benefit from upper lower style of training? Goal is to bulk up.
5ft 8 and 145lbs. I'm military too so normally be doing cardio for daily pt.
Thanks!

There is other beginner fullbody routine which takes less than an hour depends on your rest time. SS, Fierce 5 and many more. ICF is really high volume.
You still will benefit from upper/lower or even bro split. But why slow down your progression if you can progress weekly or even every session with beginner routine? Although fullbody is highly recommended and you will understand it after a few years of training, but do the routine that keeps you work more consistently. No point doing a routine you don't enjoy.
As for calorie, if you can't avoid doing cardio everyday, just eat even more to fuel yourself. If weight doesn't rise, eat even more.

I never stuck to full body 3 x a week workout, not enough recovery time between lifts for me.
I like to hit a muscle once every 4 days/twice in an 8 day block....All of my football players hit each muscle twice a week on an upper/lower split and it works very well."A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. Thanks for replies
yeah I've been reading up and learned frequency is better and I know I'll be 2x a week rather than fullbody 3x .
I feel I'll be more consistent since I'd enjoy the routine more because of more variety
What do you think of lyles routine in general? It looks solid but looking for more informed opinion
Thanks!

I had not done a full body routine since I was in my early 20's. I am glad I did Fierce 5's full body, cause it helped me get back to the basics which I had been missing. It also gave me a chance to pay attention to my form more with the weekly progression. I thought is was a good change for me and I saw my strength go up because of it. Also, it was a 3 x 5, and I did shorter rest periods, so I was done at around 45min. I like 3 x's a week when ya need a change of pace
If you like it...go with it...can't go wrong giving it a try.My Log - https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170367151&page=50

I like UL splits a lot, including Lyles. Had success with it, and it just seems to suit my preferences.
As others have mentioned you'll still progress on a 2x/wk frequency just fine, though probably not as quickly as you would at 3x/wk if you're a beginner. But you're right, it's all about consistency, so if you think you'd enjoy it more, then by all means.Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=169283793
