A lot of people put Zane down and say how small he was, and how his physique could be attained easily. Yes, he was on the smaller side, but pictures don't do most people justice. I think its safe to say that no one here has seen him up close in person during his competing days. Also, last time I checked no one here has won 3 Mr. Olympia contests

90% of the population, no. That would be a fairly hard physique to reach naturally for a normal person. Genetically gifted individuals, sure given quite a few years of proper training. Realsticlally, if your going to look anything like him your going to need a smaller bone structure overall, which rarely couples with the ability to pack on mass easily. His muscle bellies are also very good, his attachements are superb for the most part. Combine all this together and YES, his physique, while attainable im comparison to someone like Ronnie Coleman, is still very hard to achieve.
Looking at your stats you'd need another 20-25lbs of muscle or so to even have the lbm to approach that look. Unless you've got his bone structure add more, since he did a very good job of looking big at lower weights. Wanna guess how long it'll take you to add 20lbs naturally assuming you not super genetically gifted.... 2-3 years, maybe more.Last edited by T3mpest; 02-15-2008 at 10:02 PM.

take away the trunks...give him a leather skirt, a sword and sandals and he'd be ready to slay a dragon
very classic physique.
if Michael Angelo or DaVinci sculpted or painted physiques for a million years theyd never sculpt Jay Cutler but theyd come close to sculpting Zane quite often"Humility comes before honor"

they would sculpt his physique because thats what they know to be humanly possible, they never thought that something like cutler is possible, so much mass on a human frame, davinci and michael angelo thought that the max you could have would be zane.
but back to the photo, he looks like a fitness model. look lets get this straight, its bodyBUILDING not body sculpting!!!deadlift - 500lbs (want to get to 600lbs)
squat - 365lbs (need to get better)
overhead press - 275lbs (my form sucks)
bench - 315+lbs (I don't care about bench)

Frank Zane's size itself is attainable for many males. He was not the most gifted necessarily in terms of size potential.
However you're right, his structure, muscle bellies, attachments, shape, symmetry are where his genetic gifts lie and he is heavily blessed with them. Most people do not have the genes to achieve a physique like that.Interested in investing in militarizing poultry? A couple things here. He said "lol to people thinking they can attain that without juice", so we can assume he meant his musculature - not his symmetry, bone structure, etc. as these are not affected by the use of anabolic steroids.
Second, right now I am sitting at 180 pounds at 9% bodyfat at 5'7.5. Do you realize how big 200 pounds is at that height? In respect to musculature alone, right now I am about the same size as him in that picture (maybe even a little bigger, especially in the legs), but he's a few percent leaner.
If you think that a good portion of the male population CAN'T attain that physique, you're crazy.

i am not following your logic, he is human and its his physique, hence humanly possible. yes it did take pharmaceuticals, i think what you meant is that its not naturally possible. anyway enough talking about semantics.
i think that if davinci and michael angelo were alive today they might go something more like jamie eason, instead of zane. now thats a statue i would like to see!!! but on a serious note i think they might sculpt a flex wheeler like physique than a zane physique.deadlift - 500lbs (want to get to 600lbs)
