    Extra Reps for Strength?

This is a question regarding routines like Madcow's and Texas Method. If the last set on a specific movement seems easy, would it be beneficial or counter productive for me to perform additional reps (Ex. Supposed to do 305x5, feel able to do 305x7)? I'm not saying go to failure, but if energy is there to do the reps in a max effort kind of style. Would this in help or simply end up frying my CNS/result in overtraining?

If it is on the light day/recovery day, then don't do more. The program is set up for a reason. If you want to change it, thats fine, just realize you won't be doing the program, so that if something doesn't work, don't come back on here in 6 months and tell how TM/Madcow did nothing for you.
