He hasn't been for a while.
Here are there shooting percentages from 15-23 ft for the 07-08 to 12-13 season:
Kobe:
07-08: 38%
08-09: 42%
09-10: 41%
10-11: 38%
11-12: 41%
12-13: 40%
http://hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=Kobe%20Bryant
Lebron:
07-08: 37%
08-09: 40%
09-10: 40%
10-11: 45%
11-12: 39%
12-13: 46%
http://hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=LeBron%20James
In terms of 3 point shooting, both lebron's least and most efficient seasons are higher than kobe's least and most efficient, he also averages a higher percentage for his career. Kobe beats lebron in FT%, and midrange jumpers.

This is also a common misconception. Allow yourself to be enlightened: http://swishnba.com/2013/10/11/kobe-...s-more-clutch/
Some excerpts:
Post Season; a shot to tie or take the lead
Last 24 seconds
Kobe: 7 for 28 (25.0%)
LeBron: 7 for 17 (41.1%)
Last 30 seconds
Kobe: 7 for 28 (25.0%) (0 for 8 from the 09 post season till present day)
LeBron: 9 for 19 (47.30%)
Last 2 minutes
Kobe: 17 for 50 (34%) (0 for 8 in the last two playoffs; 2010 and 2011)
LeBron: 21 for 43 (48.8%)
Last 5 minutes
Kobe (since 01 season): 30 for 88 (34.09%)
LeBron: (since 06 season): 36 for 74 (48.6%)
Game 7 of a Playoff Series
Kobe 22.2ppg on 38.9% FG with 8.0rpg and 5.0apg (6 games)
LeBron *34.0ppg on 46.5% FG with 8.1rpg and 3.5 APG (4 games) (* NBA Record)
LeBron is clearly the better player when it pertains to game 7s
Elimination Games
Kobe 21.5 ppg on 41.4% FG with 5.8rpg and 3.5apg (19 games)
LeBron 31.5 ppg on 46% FG with 10.0rpg and 6.5apg (12 games)
LeBron is also clearly the better player when facing elimination.

no, i mean ill give credit where it's due.
lebron can shoot threes, especially recently, i dont know why nba players leave him open (besides the fact that he can get to the hoop easily and score)
but the point im trying to make is spacing....
as much as i dislike dwight howard, i must admit, him + pau gave a lot of spacing to Kobe, and Kobe's midrange stats were off the charts for the volume he was shooting at. it's a shame that he tore his achillies right before the playoffs.

there was another one from like 2009-2010 that picked kobe over everyone in the league
and a sports illustrated in 2008 that surveyed the league players and picked kobe
notice how even Durant gets picked over Lebron despite less clutch stats lol

Quote from the first link:
"Not too long ago, the discussion was about how LeBron wasn’t clutch. That no longer seems to be a discussion.
Since LeBron came into the league in 2003-04, nobody in the NBA has made more game-tying and go-ahead shots in the final 24 seconds of playoff games than LeBron, who is 7-of-16 on those shots. His 43.8 field goal percentage on those clutch shots ranks the best in the NBA since his rookie season among players with at least 10 attempts. The league average is 28.3 percent on those shots."
The bold is not a stat.
Edit: Although I do give you credit for the player polls.

Interesting, I was counting from the season after lebron's first championship run cause we all know he was a crap shooter at the beginning of his career, but it does seem that lebron's shooting regresses in the playoffs while overall kobe's stays the same. His playoff FG% is still .48% to kobe's .45, just goes to show low-efficiency shots are still low-efficiency shots

the reocurring theme here is that clutch being defined only as the last minute shot or whatever is false.
clutch is also making plays on both ends to help the team catch up, making shots in the 4th quarter to start a comeback, cutting down the lead to be able to contend for the W in the final moments.
and lets not act like Kobe doesnt have a chit ton of those in his career. cherry picking stats for the final second shot to win or tie and then disregarding the monstrous comebacks he riles up and single handedly bringing the team back in the ball game, is just wack
