I would completely beg to differ. I think one of the biggest outgrowths of the rapid rise in popularity of PL is how high the bar has been raised. Only like 4 years ago, your lifts and my lifts would be looked at as pretty impressive. Nowadays, we've got 13 year olds deadlifting 500 and guys missing an arm squatting well over 500 and girls breaking records that would be considered impressive for a guy only a decade ago.
