I'm one....especially archaeology, astronomy.
I stumbled upon this http://www.nowykurier.com/toys/gravity/gravity.html on a guitar forum (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bad-dog-c...ty-things.html)
I don't fully understand how to use it yet but it looks interesting enough to putz with.
To keep up and feed my neurons I go here...all science topics are available if remotely interested:

Excellent....now I know who's brain to pick if mine is misfiring on these knowledge quests.
I'm a music/geology major from the late Pleistocene Epoch and fear I'll die before I know everything. (wink)
EDIT: hope it can be a good tool for your class.
Thanks for chiming in....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 10-16-2014 at 05:01 PM.

"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Cool....another site filled with brain food.
Back in 1987-88 or so I had subscribed to a pub called Science News.
A great weekly rag of about 15 pages or so and I loved getting science discoveries/updates weekly.
But....after about 7 years I had them stacked to the ceiling.
I don't have them anymore.
Now, it's far easier on the trees (I've grown quite accustomed to breathing) that we have the webz access so satisfy one's curiosities.
Thanks for chiming in and I'm on spread.

OK....I believe you.
So many science subjects to ponder and brainstorm on.
On another science note:
It seems we have partial eclipse occurring today just prior to 15:00 PST.
I may have to get out a paper plate with a hole in it as suggested.
Thanks for commenting and keeping this science thread alive.

I try to understand Quantum Mechanics on occasion, but I just don't think my mind is flexible enough...
Eg, Quantum Entanglement:
a physical phenomenon that occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated or interact in ways such that the quantum state of each particle cannot be described independently – instead, a quantum state may be given for the system as a whole.
This picture is experimental proof of said entanglement:
Image on the left was painted by lasers that passed through the cat image.
Image on the right was painted by lasers (photons) that were split from the above mentioned lasers but never passed through the feline image. Kinda like twins knowing what each other is doing without being in the same room. And it happens instantly across infinite distances. Einstein did not like this...called it spooky...also kinda says speed of light is not absolute.
In the words of Richard Feynmam, " I think I can safely say that nobody understands quantum mechanics."* Trad Archery Crew

Not entanglement, but that post did prompt me to dig up this picture (which I had originally taken for Caturday):
Reminds me of the guy in "What's Up, Doc?"
"I'll have you know that Howard is is in negotiations with Mr. Leonard Bernstein on the possibility of conducting an avalanche in E flat!"
Did you see it? I posted a picture in the O35 photography thread. Wasn't able to see the whole thing as I was getting ready to head to the airport.Peace: Lift Long and Prosper!

Top of the mornin'....
Yes...I did try to see the eclipse using the two paper plates process with a hole cut in one of them.
I couldn't get it to work, I"m sure it was user error, so after 10 minutes I gave up plus it was a bit hazy so that didn't help.
I'll check out your photo.
Ha...Eb is not my best key.
Hope you had a safe trip.

The more we learn the less we actually know.
I guess that's what keeps us interested.
No biggie....I try to rep all that comment with civility in my threads (unless I'm on spread) and never expect anything back.
