^^^I thought Kai's traps improved this year. He was slighted for them being too large, imbalancing the rest of him. I think you're confusing the way he chooses to hit a pose for how big his traps really are.
Kai and Phil don't hit poses the same way. From the front Kai lifts his chest while Phil tilts it down. From the back Kai spreads back as wide as it goes up and out, while Phil turtle-shell's it down. (for lack of a better way to put it)
Both practice poses in a way they think best presents their body.___________________________________________________________

When you compare whos traps are more appealing? In every which way. Phils all day. Solid. Exceptional. Kais were lackluster. Just how I see it. Phil makes Kai look like hes completely missed that bodypart. Perspectively

Judges, lol they have to point out something wrong. Use something as a scapegoat. Maybe they said that just so you could look at Phils and say yeah, dominated Kai there. Facetious maybe? Anyone have their own brain? lol

I don't think that it would be enough to beat Phil but if his traps got bigger, it might not necessarily be an advantage.
Maybe the fact that his traps aren't as big, are actually complimenting his back in the BDB, making his lats look more impressive, basically highlighting his lats.
Or, it might be the exact opposite and give his back a more impressive look.
From the front, I find them proportionate (depending on what pose you're referring to), I don't find them overpowering or proportionally small.

Maybe I'm totally wrong here but while his traps aren't nearly as freaky as his lats, it seems to me that it's largely his structure that makes them look small, rather than it being primarily the development of his trap muscles.

Why then have they been discussed for years. From the front they look good. From the back not so much. Is this not what OP is saying. I dont like MD. Get 23 inch arms blah blah blah. 400 pages and only 297 pages are ads for crap supps. I dislike the mag and most of the forum. So I dont listen to PBR. Ok links to who won what pose. Does he say Kai won almost all poses. You can look at Ops pics for said weak links.
There should be a picture of Dexter Jackson on the IFBB mandate.

I think that when you compare the back shots, its extremely noticeable. Weak area would be a understatement, I don't think kai would win either way. But he would have a better chance to steal it if phil came in a little off. phil is gifted. everythings there. kai is a little behind on the genetics, looks wise. If I was training kai, we would be the traps a hugggggge priority. experimenting with different volume, weight, rest, exercises. When you look from the rear you notice it, then they turn around and you can still notice the huge difference. obvious. The dudes who said the 2012 thing. care finding this years? you think its diff. this has been a ongoing thing. every year. a huge difference. the beautiful thing about traps is when they are full from top to bottom it doest through off proportions. up top maybe. but phils thick traps with beautiful muscle inserts... he'd have to come in extremely off to give kai a chance. kai and phil both have some of the same strong points in my opinion, bodyparts others lack. sick legs, hams in particular, nice back( minus the traps for kai(not as noticeable to next to athletes though) pecs. Phils calves, arms, I mean, the fullness and roundness to him. way more aesthetic of a look. hats off to phil, in condition who can compete? its hasn't and will not be phil against anyone for a while now. Its phil against himself. Haters who think kai won are bringing bias. which is what this sport is about. its subjective. In the end, phil obv won cause he looks more like the trophy right??????? lol

Well, the people on this forum have certainly figured out how to turn Kai's physique around. Not as though he's spent more time in the gym than any five of us put together and is working with one of the best trainers in the world.
Are you the same guys reminding DJ to bring Ramy in conditioned? We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.
You can't stop us. You can't hold us back.
IFBB brahs über alles.

lol. rambling. and its just a perspective. I actually like how kai trains over phil. hes more intellectual. And of course these are two of the best guys in the world. Best trainer in the world could never be a title owned. Most profitable could be a claim
