Hey guys, won a couple of bottles of Heat in a promo and this is the log to accompany it. Some background stats:
6'1"
195 lbs
Training to do an MMA fight and a Powerlifting meet at the same time. I know it's a lot, but there's no definitive science to say it can't be done In PL, I'm ready to compete as a 181. I have another log that goes into more detail concerning training, but as far as my PRs for my big 3:
Deadlift: 560 lbs
Squat: 405 lbs
Bench: 230 lbs (yes, this needs work)
I've already started taking Heat and am enjoying the product. In terms of initial impressions, I'm really noticing the appetite suppressant effect, which is great, because the hardest part for me in the fitness lifestyle is not the grueling hours at the gym or working through off days, it's sticking to the diet. This is already helping me with that and I got the product in the mail yesterday. Because this is a thermogenic fat loss aid, meaning it has ingredients of or pertaining to the likes of caffeine, it can make me a little anxious at times but it subsides quickly. In short: so far, liking what I'm taking.

5/8/14
AM Workout
This was done fasted.
30 mins Stairmaster, working up to highest intensity
~30 mins bag work, focusing more on technique. I'm realizing that I'm trying to teach myself boxing and kickboxing at the same time, which is extremely difficult...need to slow it down a bit. For those reading, I want to take classes but currently don't have the $$. Trying to change that.
30 mins mobility/motility/prehabilitation (not sure if that's a word) work
And the day is off to a good start.MMA and Powerlifting -> do they mix?

Actually, it is you guys who are making this possible, so thank you!
For clarification purposes, even in random ******** groups, people can't get over how ridiculous it is that my big 3 one rep maxes are 560 lbs deadlift/405 lbs squat/230 lbs bench. I find this beyond entertaining; anyone who knows me knows I'm strong but yet I can't get that bench up...trying everything over here. And I train too often for a 5x5 program. I want to do an MMA fight one day, and that day may be long off in the future, but it's in my not so humble opinion that to make it is as a fighter, you have a train as a fighter. Part of that is training through injuries (I have pinched my left briachialis nerve several times now, for example), and it's almost entirely based on your mindset. Part of training as a fighter, if I am understanding correctly, is training injured. I'm doing this on a level of stupidity not known to some, but it's what I love.MMA and Powerlifting -> do they mix?

The biggest thing that's helped me build my bench has been floor presses, overloaded lockouts, rest pauses, forced reps, Mike O'Hearn's Power Building program, 5/3/1, negatives, and various forms of all of the above. Also, get your triceps stronger.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, have been tied up with a few things. Today some random stuff:
20 mins spin bike dynamic warm up
Incline BB Bench
135 x 10 x 3
Standing MP
Bar x 10
65 x 10
95 x 10
115 x 3
Some bicep and tricep work as well. Also went on a ~5k run.
Thanks man, I'll definitely keep that in mind.MMA and Powerlifting -> do they mix?

Today:
Flat BB Bench
135 x 15 x 3
Pec Dec
85 x 12
95 x 12
105 x 12
115 x 10
Tate Press
45s x 12 x 3
Kickbacks
15s x 15 x 3
CG Pulldown
60 x 15 x 4
Floor Press
115 x 12 x 3
Took it pretty easy this session. I've never really done much higher rep work, so I'm giving that a try. I think it might help bring up my weakpoints, along with targeting them more efficiently. I'm realizing that my weakpoints are my weakpoints because I don't do them enough. That's going to change.MMA and Powerlifting -> do they mix?

Did chest on Sunday and Monday. Sunday relatively lower volume, got a PR on flat bench 185 x 5 x 2 and another PR the following day, 205 x 3.
Today:
Power Cleans
Bar x 10
95 x 10
135 x 5 x 2
155 x 3 x 2
Teaching myself how to clean. Not all that easy.
BB Rows
135 x 10 x 2
185 x 5
205 x 3
Cable Pulley Row w/ Altitude Mask (just for the hell of it)
100 x 12 x 3
120 x 8
Iso-Lateral Pulldown
1 pps x 10 x 2
Fat Grip BB Curls
85 x 10 x 3
Working through a phase of readjusting my "routine" because I'm at a point where I'm getting tired of working out by myself. For me it's cyclical in that I have this feeling every so often, so I'm gonna try to work out with friends more often until I feel like I'm back in the groove again.

6/5/14
Standing OHP
Bar x 15
95 x 8, 7
85 x 8
65 x 8
CG Upright Row
65 x 12 x 4
Seated Front Raises
30s x 15 x 3
Seated "T's"
35s x 8 x 3
My shoulders are like legs for most people; I hardly ever do them and it shows.
Been making a lot of funky, yet good tasting (at least IMO) with a Vitamix that a friend lent to me. This morning's breakfast was OJ, Greek yogurt, a banana, some apple butter and broccoli mixed into a shake. It tastes A LOT better than it sounds.MMA and Powerlifting -> do they mix?
