Its where I went when I lived in Charleston. I've been buying stuff on Craigslist though and have a pretty nice setup in my garage.. Bench, two bars, squat rack, ~500lbs of weight and 100lb heavy bag. And all totaled, I probably don't have more than $300 in it. That said though, working out in the garage was not very enjoyable this past january when it was 17 degrees outside!

Looked it up. Sadly its not 24/7 but it is 11 minutes from where Ill be working. Might have to do lunch workouts.

So glad the gym I currently workout in is the old apparatus bay at the Fire Station, there is a crappy heater that keeps it semi warm at least.

Currently run/jog 5 miles or so around downtown Spartanburg on my lunch break most days, and walk a mile and a half or so in the mornings. Beep if you see me running by.

If you're referring to the heat factor, yeah I must have a death wish. But between work and home and a side business and preparing to move and taking care of my wife (medical school), it's the only time I have available to fit in some cardio. Beats sitting in a chair for nine hours at a time, and keeps me from wanting to jump off the roof stress-wise.

If you're referring to the crime factor, I'm a 200lb pasty-looking white guy with glasses and a small gut jogging along at five miles an hour and breathing like an asthmatic. I like to think that I ooze intimidation.

I'm inclined to agree with you regarding our current residence. When I run/jog during the day, I start right in the middle of downtown, and generally either do the Rail Trail, or head into Converse or Wofford where it's shady. Some days I drive over to Duncan Park and run that. Although last week I decided doing 11 miles in one shot was a good idea, and jogged up to Cleveland Park. Not a good area.

I just stay hopeful and carry a knife with me.

I've lived in and around Spartanburg for the last 15+ years. While there are some definite bad spots(where 90% of the crime happens), the general city and area is not that bad. I work downtown and have for over 6 years at my current job.

What is the draw to that place in a local sense? I've been here 10 months and haven't felt inclined to go, but everyone's always talking about it. I'm currently in the process of kicking my once-a-month Hub Diggity Dog habit before they move further down Asheville Highway.

I actually like the food and it doesn't bother me at all(doesn't give me a colon cleanse). It's cool atmosphere you don't get with normal restaurants... you'll just have to try it one day.

Ended up going all around Wofford from downtown on my run yesterday. Saw the new statue near the football field. I guess it's college finals week, because a lot of people were packing up their cars and leaving. I'm looking forward to it being relatively vacant all summer. Dodging kids on phones isn't the most enthralling thing in the world.

I think today's trip will take me to Converse, and tomorrow the Rail Trail.
