I entered Carl Grace's raffle. It was $50 bucks which is pretty steep, but it's a 1/80 chance to win which isn't too bad. And it includes a full day session, 2 plane tickets to vegas, and 2 nights at Caesar's Palace. They announce the winner today. Fingers crossed.

Okay, so after some thought, I decided to get the compass first, as I wanted an original design that no one else has and that has meaning, I can get the other things later on.
So I wanted something unique and had a play around in photoshop. I used these following elements that I wanted to include and what they meant to me. I'd appreciate thoughts/input/critic.
Mjölnir (thors hammer) - I've been to norway a few times and went into the mountains for a few weeks. This changed how I saw the world and has given me a goal of what i want my life to be like, so its very personal and has a deep personal meaning, so i wanted something that connected me to this. the following symbols just reiterate that

Vegvísir - nordic compass, so you can always find your way. I wanted to include it in the traditional compass style with a twist
Vegvísir - to give you strength in battle
Anyway here are the following things i came up with, just a few variations, and how it would look on myself roughly. I'm not sure what colour i'd like it to be, but I like the old blue/black look
1) - this is my favourite so far. Obviously I would fill out the rest of the hammer, but I couldnt be bothered right now
2) - i kind of like the placement of this one
3)
Thoughts, critism? thanks

I probably wouldn't add the English directions NSWE. People don't need to know it's a compass, as long as you understand and take meaning from it. Adding the western culture of English seems to me to take away from the traditional cultural significance. Just a thought.
Also the hammer puts it off balance a lot, or rather it doesn't fit in well.
Of all of them I like the 2nd bestLast edited by Bbvoncrumb; 02-20-2014 at 01:08 AM.

Had my first 3 hour session on Tuesday to start my half sleeve. Done by Ross at Handstyle Custom Tattoos here in South Africa. So happy so far! Next session to add some more to the back of my arm and start the shading in about 3 weeks time. Piece is inspired by my parent's laughing Buddha collection which they've had since before I was born. They're got more than 50 of the little dudes scattered throughout their house.
I am so unsure, I am so alive!

I'm nearing completion of my animal themed sleeve. Lot's of black ink used.
These pics were taken right after I was done, they're 1-2 years old now. Have been on accutane and finally got off it a month ago, so can start the, hopefully, last session in ~3 months time. Had a 3-4 hr session, after the pics were taken, in which I had a little more added and also retouched (I guess that's what it's called, English is not my native language, sorry) previous parts, like one of the chimps' eyes and nose, cause they kinda looked retarded. Much better now though. In the third picture, everything besides the chimp and the fossil at my wrist was done in one ~8 hour session with 20 mins break after 3 hours. I swear, when she started with the white coloring after 6-7 hours I almost had to stop.
The last session will have the rest of the arm filled out, complete the chameleon and also retouched the older parts as they lack some white color. Hope you like them, and as I said, they're still not completely finished the ones you see on the pics.
Sorry for the ****ty images.

Ur other idea with the animals ans the tree was way better. The reverse sleeve. I really liked the tree coming up from the back of ur hand. If u don't do that I am gonna steal it from u. Deal with it.
If ur dead set on doing the compass than do it. Bit I agree with Poster above. Don't add English to it and take the hammer off. Hammer looks out of place

Thanks for the opinion guys. I'll take out the hammer or try and incorporate it differently. Probably easiest to leave it out though.
I do want the animal one, i liked the tree idea too. I might get both done at the same time
