Yea might pick up a tube. Going to Asia for a month and this would be pretty portable.
Making an order from west coast shaving, what other blades should I try? Trying crystal and ordering more Astras. So my rotation is just Astra, Feather, Crystals

Hi all,
I like having a small 3 days beard so I use an electric razor, but God willing, I'll be in the military next september, and I'll have to shave daily.
Which would be better between a straight razor and a double-edge razor ? Any tips on shaving sets to buy ?
Thanks in advance brahs.bald crew

It's really what you prefer. If you go with a double edge you can pick up a sampler of blade from amazon or west coast shaving to find out what blades you prefer. With regards to a razor, really depends. I have a nice little collection I've picked up of vintage razors. From what I've heard, the merkur 34c is a good beginner razor.

If you are short on time in the morning then I would stay away from a straight. It does take a lot more work and time to use. Before I even shave to go basically 50 passes on my strop and then I shower and make my lather. With a DE all you do is shower and make your lather. That is a huge difference in time... Just my 2 cents

I am not saying that you shouldn't look towards a straight. I have 3 of them and love it. I will never go back. It is just a much harder learning curve and will cost you a lot more to get started. At some point you will have to rehone them and will need to decide it you want to it yourself (that means buying multiple sharpening stones) or paying some one else to do it.Free Agent...

yes it happens to me a lot and I hate it.
Usually, it's because the lather is too dry. You can try to add more water to build the lather and use hotter water in the sink to rinse the razor during your shave.
The downsides are that I like to face lather. So for the last pass, the lather can become too thin. Also, I try to avoid using very hot water on my face so that my skin doesn't dry out. Cold shaving can also easily result in clogging.KingsAge Crew

Brahs I want to buy a DE for a bit of a quicker shave every now and then when I don't have time for my straight.
Someone reccomend me a decent mid ranged razor. ~$50 I am looking at spending.
Also, never shaved with DE, only straight. Any major differences?Traditional Wetshave Crew

Picked up a fog-free mirror off Amazon and started shaving in the shower recently, it's been great. I save some time and my tough beard gets a better prep in the shower than after.

There is no sharper blade than a Feather, but they are also not forgiving. I really like Feather and Astra blades. Astra blades are not as sharp but much more forgiving and very cheap.
In the end, you have to choose the right blade for your beard and razor. So there is no way around trying different blades. Try going for sharper blades if you have thick stubble.

Still struggling to get a good lather, definitely not getting enough protection. I used VDH soap and I feel like I'd be better of just getting the brush wet, whip it around in the soap and apply it to the face and go without adding water. Even if I add a little water it just gets too thin and I get no protection. Thoughts?
Also, I had my best shave with a shaving factory razor and lord super chrome blade the other night. I used a flare tip with a Astra SP and it was awful. So much irritation and not very close. Still to try my adjustable I have.
