From wiki
The Two Hands Anyhow is a traditional strongman lift that was popular with lifters such as Arthur Saxon and Thomas Inch (of challenge dumbbell fame). The goal was to lift as much weight overhead with two hands in any method as long as you were not assisted by an outside force. The most common version of the Two Hands Anyhow had lifters bent press a barbell with the strong arm and then lift a smaller weight with the other arm, usually a kettlebell. The world record for the two hands anyhow is 448 lbs by Arthur Saxon who used a 336 lb barbell and a 112 lb kettlebell.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

Hi.
I'm still working on the house and the gym. I've got the gym painted now and some of the electrical issues worked out as well. Its funny, my new house is a nice house in a nice neighborhood....whoever built it originally made it a nice home and clearly they weren't "tight" on money. However.... when they finished the basement they took so many shortcuts it is almost laughable. If I ever run into them I'm sure I'll have more than a few questions.
Some of the highlights.... they put the walls right over the carpet and the trim/baseboards that were already in place, they did not tie the walls into the joists...just right up to the drop ceilings (and in 2 places they didn't even bother moving the flourescent lights...just put the wall right down the middle), there were no outlets in the gym and only one in the downstairs bedroom (there was another that had a dead wire going to nowhere in it and a blank coverplate was put on the box), they put a bar in with a canopy that has built in lights....to power the lights they ran an extension cord from the wall behind the bar into the bar and then dropped another extension cord from the lights through the wall by the bar, when they put in the drop ceiling they did not extend two vents from the furnace trunk line....so not only does the basement not have enough vents (making it cold)....but I'm currently heating the space between my drop ceiling and the floor joist.
They went to a lot of expense and trouble to put in walls, some electric, a drop ceiling and a bar.... but they took ridiculous shortcuts that probably didn't save them $200.
The trials and tribulations of buying a house instead of building one!
Oh.... this guy has been on my local CL for a couple of weeks now.... he's cracking me up. He wants someone to give him a nice db set and he's willing to entice them by showing pics of his cash.
Some people, eh?

Hey Keet, I'm glad to hear that all is going well. Most people finish their basements well after their house, as you probably know already . They find a cheap contractor, or do it themselves (after taking a weekend HD course). My basement (finished) had walls put over carpet, but then again, the guy who had my house did a lot of crap that went against what the original builder did. The guy before me was plumber and thought he had other skills, he didn't. Probably wasn't that good of a plumber either .

Okay guise...I could do the research, and I'm sure figure something out, but I'd rather the crew's opinion.
Going to start purchasing items for the home gym again. This time it'll be a long drawn out process I'm sure as I want to get what I want.
First item: Elliptical I'd like to get the best bang for the buck, but I want to stay under $500 so what's the best value model wise and I'll foot work finding it.
Had a treadmill before, it was a cheap crappier one. Wife has no interest in another one, and this elliptical will probably be in the living room or the bedroom so it can be used while watching tv by either of us during nap time for the kiddo.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #56 ▪█─────█▪

I have a Diamondback elliptical that I purchased on CL about 4 years or so ago. Before that I also had a Diamondback recumbent bike. For the price of their equipment, I was really pleased with the quality of the Diamondback line. I paid about $1500 for the bike, but sold it and bought the elliptical for about $450....which is about right for used equipment. The bike never had an issue and the elliptical has been fine since we got it and it was obviously cared for by the original owners.
We also have a 14 year old precor residential treadmill. I like it so much I probably won't shop too much when/if it ever breaks down.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Honestly, the best deals around here, on good cardio stuff, would be a purchase from a reseller. The resellers near me aren't any good pricewise for weight equipment. But the usually have qualified factory techs work on their cardio stuff and the give a warranty (albeit only about 60 days). Commercial stuff for $500-$700, and they can be talked down a little from there. I bought a new Livestrong elliptical years ago (around $1,300) and it has worked out okay, but if I had to do it again, I'd go used commercial. I couldn't recommend a new elliptical for around $500, as I've never known one that pasted under decent usage. Good luck.

Well, that is the clearest sentence of the entire post, so I assume you are correct. I will not be messing around with this cat.
I wish I at least had a smaller set for him though.....I mean do you think he'd give me say $175 for a set of db's from 5-50lbs? He clearly knows his market....I don't imagine I would be able to beat him in a negotiation.
Could someone aware me on what a singles intrastate is? It sounds like something to do with human trafficking.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Page 2 bump....
(I've been trying to think of something witty to say about the Super Bowl, but I got nothing.)
Here's a photo I took on Friday's Hike:
And here's a picture of a church that I took in November. I didn't get around to processing it until about a week ago.
Some geese from the same time period. Same story on the processing...

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Lots of good stuff in here.....
1) Great pics as always KBKB.
2) I don't think anyone from Canada gets to say "Keep those Geese down there"... they're your property... come get them.
3) We have open season on Coyotes and Ground Hogs here in Ohio.... but only like a week of hunting season for those giant f'ing seagulls our Canadian Brethren have cursed us with..... personally, I'll take the Coyotes and 'hogs. I have actually come very close to round housing a couple of those fearless bastards.... I'll probably be put in jail if I'm caught.....
4) Some one please privately aware me on the ebay account thingy... I feel very much out of the loop....
5) Offer for the Cannucks..... We'll keep your geese.... you take the beebs and that twirking hillbilly beotch as a pair (if it is found they are the same person, we'll call it even if s/he is just gone...... and when I say gone, I mean gone..... s/he has lost their USofA priviledges.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

I think it's a reference to a douchebag eBay seller that started a thread about some stuff he picked up, got us all to identify it, then threw up on eBay for ridiculous prices. The thread appears to be deleted, LOL.

Damn.... I started reading that thread for about a page or so and lost interest. I didn't revisit it and apparently I missed out on some fun.
I got too busy laughing at all the recent bench and dumbbell threads... too much fun. I'd have so much more room in my space if I'd just get me some Marcy stuff...especially a bench press.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪
