I also was completely unaware that cops could come up your driveway while you're closing the garage and make you do schit. I would have just let it close then found somewhere to hide in my house in case they came in looking for me. Pretty sure if they went into the house before getting a warrant then anything would have been thrown away but I have no idea.

My mother and cousin were killed by drunk drivers on two separate occasions.. I report anyone I see having too much. It seems you're more upset with who did the right thing than with the guy driving pissed. You must drink and drive occasionally.

naww my DUI was $2200. Ive been drinking for 6 years around 1-2x a week. $20 for each cab ride, so $40 worth of cabs a week.

Thats $2080 worth of cabs a year.

2080x6years of drinking=$12,480

$12,480-$2200= I have saved apprx $10,280 by driving drunk.

I have 1 dui total so seems to me its been a lot cheaper to drink and drive m8.

Yup. You fail or refuse the hand held you go to the ER. Blood is drawn here routine. Sit in the ER of one of our local hospitals on the Fri/Sat night and you'll see officers walking people in on the reg.

I drive drunk more than I want to acknowledge, but whenever I get behind the wheel something clicks in my head and I become more focused than ever. It's hard to explain but I actually become more aware of my surroundings and the implications of my actions if I lose focus. I know its not right, but I also know my limit and I never go out to get incoherent.


I also hit a spot for food and sober up before making the journey home.

I don't agree with drunk driving and I believe it is entrapment to even allow people to do it at/below .08(a level that is achieved by everyone differently and cannot be measured without a breathalyzer). More so, you can start driving drunk the first day you're ever had a drink(obviously no one drinks before 21), how does that even make sense? So it's you're first time drinking, expericing the effects of a dangerous and mind altering drug, but now you're meant to know where .08 is at and not to drive if you somehow realized you're past it.

First, I wanna know what state this was in. As far as I'm aware you have to atleast have your keys in the ignition of your vehicle to be arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence. The cops showed up as he was in his garage out of his vehicle and they arrested him because someone said he was drunk driving? Yea, okay... If this dude had a lawyer, then that lawyer didn't do chit for him. $12k is an outrageous sum of money that like I said before just seems like BS even after court/ program fees. Either that or this dude had priors and the judge decided to stick it to him. I call bullchit.

I drove drunk a lot when I was younger. Now my limit is 2-3 beers or 2 mixed drinks. Anything over that I am not driving.

Yes it's irresponsible but I would venture to say if you asked 100 ppl if they every drank and drove, of the people who replied "no":

50% would be outright lying
40% would think they have not but more than likely would've blown above the limit
10% told the truth

Around here, $5000 will get you some hack who barely passed the bar out of a state school. If you have connected friends, you can probably get a good one to hook you up for that much.

The best ones in my area can range from about $7500-$8000 just for a retainer. God forbid the DA is a dick and takes it to trial.
