    Get weight down to 200lbs. Bench 330, dl 405, can't squat but 5 reps of 1000 on leg press would be cool.

    Continue to stay in the game, keep focused and progress on all my lifts, and get into the best shape of my life. I have some numbers in mind I'd like to hit:

    Squat 275
    Dead 350
    Bench 100 - Dumbbells

    I'd like to lean down to single digit body fat (at current lean mass that would make me around 71 kg / 156 lbs). I've put on some excess flab over the festive season so currently at about 19%. I'm going to try and lean out fairly quickly in the first few months, so that I can focus on muscle and strength gains in the latter half of the year.

    I'd also like to hit the following numbers on the big three:

    - Squat: 130 kg / 286 lbs (current 100 kg)
    - Deadlift: 160 kg / 352 lbs (current 120 kg)
    - Bench: 120 kg / 264 lbs (current 100 kg)

    I'm having to move upwards in very small increments at this point, so I think the above is realistic but achievable by the end of the year.

    Weight loss is still my primary goal. 20+lbs should come off this year.

    This is almost excatly what I want to do. So:

    Weight = 205
    Bench = 350
    dead = 405
    Squat = 385

    I'm going to adjust my incline goal up. Today was most encouraging, my strength is returning at a much more rapid clip. New goal is 315x5. It'll take hella work but I believe I can get there.
    Its not enough!

    Accountability Time!!! Or excuse time?

    Anyone care to share how they did on their goals for this year?

    Here's my update, in bold:

    Originally Posted by tobymax123 View Post
    1. A typical goal for those of us with a milestone birthday: To be in my best shape ever when I turn 50 in May. I plan to cut down to 150 lb by the end of March, and then build up to a lean & mean 155 on May 6.

    I did not do this. I did not cut at all. About a week after posting this on Jan. 2, I realized it wasn't compatible with my strength increase goals. Oh, and I just didn't dig deep enough to find the will to cut.

    2. Starting today: Add 15 to 20 minutes to my workouts. Since starting a new job in August I've only been working out 35-45 minutes right after work, but I can improve on that. Yesterday I had an awesome 1.25 hour workout and it got the desire burning again.

    I did okay on this one, off-and-on throughout the year. Life gets in the way, and towards the end of the year most of my after-work workouts ended up being only 45 minutes.

    3. Weight goals, for 5 reps:

    Bench 225 lbs;
    Missed goal. I got up to 215 x 5, and 225 x 3, and a 1 rep max of 230 lb.

    DL 325 lbs;
    Excuses, excuses. I changed course after losing my Versa Gripps, and spent most of the year doing bare-handed deadlifts. I got up to 305 bare-handed. Got new grips in November and just got back up to 315 lb x 3.

    Squat 225 lbs;
    More excuses. Due to knee pain I dropped back and started all over from 135, trying to correct my form. I only got back up to 195 for 5 reps. I still hate squats, but not quite as much as before since I've got better form and full ROM now.

    OHP 135 lbs.
    Missed goal. Got up to 130 x 2.

    I missed the 315x5 on incline. I got 325x1...I had elbow issues that made working heavy inclines very difficult.

    I did get two other goals I had:
    BWX5 on Seated OHP and 500 in the Deadlift.

    Next year is going to be hella hard - I want to hit 575 in DL's and 275x5 in SOHP's...probably won't add to my incline goal.
    Its not enough!

    Well I reached my target in having no defined goals in terms of weight lifted
    I did achieve a gain of over 10lbs this year
    most of my lifts have increased this year and have made a 300lb plus deadlift and 225lb box squat
    I can look like I lift, if I wear my 12 year old sons T shirt whilst holding a barbell
    my T shirts come out of the wash, on the line, dry and then into my wardrobe - so yes I am a stranger to the iron.

    I did achieve my goal of sticking to my program for the year. Did PHUL for 6 month, then switched to cardio with a 3 day split for 3 months, then cardio with BH's 3 day split rehab program for the rest of the year (all in the journal).

    This lead to:
    - I can do cardio machines now. I can bend far enough to do the rowing machine
    - I can touch my right toe and tie my shoe
    - I have pain still but not always, all day, all the time like last year.
    - last week, I actually ran after my bus, only 50 steps or so but it was running and in heels too
    - my upper body looks like I lift when I wear a tank top
    - I can bench my body weight
    - my weight is the exact same though. I'm a poster child for recomping LOL

    (Thanks for bumping this, Toby. I had totally forgot about this thread.)

    Hmm Stay healthy-Distal bicep tendon issues and shoulder impingement/bursitis/adhesive capsulitis with surgical correction planed for Jan. Could be worse but it didn't help my training much. With that in mind I doubt I increased my lean mass much. I definitely stayed leaner. That didn't help me increase my lifts or lean mass either.

    That being said overall improvements were made and I'm still here grinding away.

    Be a positive role model for my family.
    Workout as often as possible so that I can be the best "ME" that I can be.

    I'm satisfied with what I accomplished in 2014, hope that 2015 can be as successful.

    Still waiting for someone to ask if I lift weights.
