Combination of a lot of factors:
Absentee/beta fathers
Ball busting/feminists mothers
No male role models in early life (BRB the VAST majority of grade school teachers are female)
Western credentialism pushing back the age of maturity with each generation (BRB you're an adult at 18. No wait, now you need a bachelors you're not an adult till 22, no wait now you need a masters you're not an adult till 25)
And a government that has been charged with being your whole-life nanny
Paper alphas. Yea, it's a problem. It's why people fight against the "fake it till you make it" thing. It WORKS...but you actually have to eventually incorporate what you're faking into your real self. Lots of people...even mystey himself...never internalized the solid core they were attempting to project.
You actually do understand. There's just not many of those so dudes are making due with terrible (but physically attractive) women. The type of women that if you DO compliment, they see it as a sign of weakness.

it looks very clean too. i would expect to see a $5000+ price tag on one that looks that nice. i'm going to go look at it. if i can get it for less than $2300 i'll probably buy it because i could flip it and make money if it runs well or even if it needs just a little work. or just keep it and have fun. i've been wanting to get a bronco from those years and fully restore it for a while. i finally have the money and that looks like a great option....

i like that body style too. however my favorite is the style i listed. those things are just classic IMO. rollin around on a nice spring or fall day with the top off and the radio playing = heaven to me. they have classic styling IMO too.
the only downside is the non overdriven transmission. on the 78-79 models. they have great axles though. 9 inch ford in the rear, dana 44 out front. good strong transfer case and transmission as well.
i believe that by 90 they had O/D transmissions in the 300 6 cylinder and 5.0 V8 models but not the 5.8 351. however they had lighter axles by that point.
a 460 with no overdrive = 10mpg. but it would be a weekend toy so thats not a huge concern.

Since we're discussing vehicles...Just saw this today on CL.
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4168784094.html
I absolutely love late 80s/early 90s Trooper and Montero. I will own one eventually. Just gotta finish fixing the electrical issue with my GVR4 and...I may sell it.
EDIT: Just saw that Bronco gets 10mpg. Would sure be sweet though. And the market for those is heating up, so I think you can definitely flip it...If not now, wait for a few years. In my opinion, that's the next market to explode.

My '90 was an EFI 320 with an overdrive trans. I'm pretty sure that by '90 both the 351 and 302 were using the same AOD trans, so they both had OD. Still a DANA 44 front.....but that TTB garbage that wandered something awful. The 8.8 rear under them was tough, but becuase of the design, breaking an axle means your day is done. Not that I had enough tire, gear, or power to do that in either of my trucks.
My '92 was a RARE 302 5spd, but it had the chit Mazda-built box from the exploder/navajo. After destroying 2, I swapped in the ZF S542. 4:1 first AND OD. Best. Tranny. Evar.
Oh, and both wouldn't do much better than 10mpg. The funny part is: it was 10mpg no matter what. Totally empty on cruise from Denver to Houston...10mpg. Pulling a trailer with everything I woned from Denver to Houston....10mpg.
Honestly, I'd like to find another final-gen truck, with a 5 spd and throw all the eddie bauer interior parts at it.
Oh: magical special secret...the "non-removal" roofs of the final-gen trucks...................totally removable.** KNEE DRAGGERS UNITE **

well, i thought that the one with the 351 i looked at didnt have overdrive. perhaps i was wrong. i knew that they mated to the same transmission but thought just had an idiot moment or something. good to know because i was purposely avoiding 351's when i looked at newer ones.
i didnt even know the tops were supposed to be non removeable though. i swear i had seen them off on some others.
thats honestly all i want. a cool old truck i can cruise around in with the top off. just seems like so much fun.

I think in the 80s you could get the 351 with a C6 which has no OD. However, with the facelift (and introduction of EFI) in '87, they were all the same trans.
In the last gen they put safety torxs bolts to hold the roof down, and because it housed the mandatory 3rd brake light, they called it "non removable." With the right bit, it comes off like all the rest.** KNEE DRAGGERS UNITE **

I'm craving Chipotle too. But my meal would be:
Two Burritos - White rice, chicken, peppers/onions, tomato salsa, cheese.
Chips and tomato salsa
3 scoops whey in 2 cups of skim milk
2 cups of blueberries
Obviously the last two are from my home and not Chipotle.
It takes me about 20-25 minutes to consume this meal.

The next 3 weeks are going to be crazy. I'm in an off-site conference all next week. The week of the 18th, I'm in training for 3 days. And the week of the 25th is Thanksgiving so I'll only be working 3 days.
In the next 3 weeks, I'll be at work a total of 5 days without taking any vacation.
