Training forearms/grip is important for success on heavy deadlifts.
How much grass could an ass to grass squater squat if an ass to grass squater could squat grass?

As a beginner, there's very little point really. Beyond that, yes.

Even as a beginner it's a good idea to train grip. It's better to get a headstart on grip strength rather than jump into it once it's already a problem.

Perhaps I was lucky then, and many others have been too. Never needed to train grip at that stage, and even now, it's hardly a priority.

Deadlifting and rowing a lot, plus doing pullups and other things of that nature, will strengthen your grip convincingly. IME.

    Straps

For dead lifts and shrugs I use straps anyway

Cannot lift heavy, deadlift wise, with untrained grip - it will become a priority once you get to a stage where you can deadlift more than you can hold. Getting rid of lifting gloves was the first step for me.

straps will allow you to lift heavier but will not improve your grip power. Much better to get rid of gloves and straps altogether.

I never needed to do grip isolation exercises. When my normal grip starts falling on the second or third set of deads i just switch to mixed grip and Im fine.

Their is if you feel their disproportionate to the rest of your arms/poor grip strength

I train em cause my fore arms lack a dominating presence , plus I physically have an extra muscle in mine so im interested in seeing what they would look like bigger cause of the extras
