LN certainly has a lot to (continue to) gain from his physique and performance as a natural bodybuilder. It's part of what builds on his business model and reputation. Unlike someone like Lyle McDonald who has a less than desireable physique for any aspiring bodybuilder, LN has a lot to gain or lose from his image. I think because he stands so much to gain from doing a cycle here and there and keeping it a secret, it's not unreasonable to suspect him. I want to believe that he is natty so bad, but deep down I have my doubts. Just my personal opinion. Please don't sue me.
Jason DB...
1. The guy is a bum
2. Finds a wife on the internet. Moves in with her. Continues to be a bum.
3. Starts a youtube channel as a business/hobby/method of validation... calls it a job.
4. Starts controversy and now he's getting threatened legally.
I really just have to wonder what this guy's wife must be thinking with all of this recent controversy. Jason DB must have a humongous elephant dick or something for her to put up with all of his professional free loading and BS.
Thanks. I know y'all were really waiting for me to weigh in on all this. Nobody rep me all at once or anything.

Despite doing his ICF 5x5 program, I'm actually not too high on JasonDB and his expertise, either. In fact, I pretty much disregard everything he says but the routine he put out. Call me weird.
But I just thought I'd comment on the Lyle McDonald thing. I don't think he's an aspiring bodybuilder, as he's been more into endurance sports lately. I'm not sure whether he started out as an aspiring bodybuilder and quit after seeing subpar results, though."In all things there is a poison and there is nothing without a poison. Then I'm stumped.
5x5 is a classic routine. I was doing a 5x5 long before I heard of JasonDB to add strength and size when 8-12 reps weren't cutting it for me anymore.
What I meant about Lyle is that people don't follow him for his physique. They respect his mind. With LN he plays on his PhD as well as the "look at how big and strong I am" as a marketing tool. Therefore he has much to gain from staying on top of his physical game.

Oh, yeah, I agree. I guess I meant his variation of the classic 5x5 program I was actually hesitant to start it, because I was so annoyed by all the hype surrounding it on the boards and him kind of presenting it as this piece of his own creative work, but in the end I kind of figured it doesn't look half bad for someone with little muscle mass, so why not give it a whirl.
True, I know all of that, don't worry. I just figured I'd mention I'm trying to follow his version of the routine (well, I haven't for a months due to injury, but once I'm healed I plan on doing so) for full disclosure before criticizing him.
Agreed on those counts for sure, sorry if I took your words too literally. I know what your point was, but maybe not everyone knows Lyle at this point or for years isn't really someone trying to look like a bodybuilder and failing at it.
I assume rational people aren't, but I'm always surprised by the amount of fanboyism on the boards when people fall back to "Jason says..." to back up their arguments, even though he hasn't really ever presented any credentials or elaborate argumentation to show he has the intellectual chops. Having said that, I don't think he's a buffoon on all counts, so don't get me wrong. I think his knowledge is alright, but some of the stuff he says really does irk me (the teenage cutting thing especially, since so many people now stand by it because he said it, and in the video he doesn't really back it up with anything)."In all things there is a poison and there is nothing without a poison. It depends only upon the dose whether a poison is a poison or not." ~ Paracelsus

He's very good at regurgitating information from respected and credible researchers. I sometimes feel like watching his videos is a dumbed down copy/pasta from Lyle, the stickies, Alan, etc. with a sprinkle of his own input. Regardless, I'm enjoying his meltdown. I'm hoping this will end as epic as it did for lowcarbcorey and the poptart axe and video of his turds. Meanwhile, I chuckle when I see how butt hurt LN gets on ********. Thank you online fitness community, keep up the good work! I hope to join the ranks someday.

I know Layne personally. He is completely natty, never even dabbled in AAS, & never even seriously considered it. It's not even an option for him. Certain people see being natty as a personal badge of honor, and a challenge that they're willing to take on - they truly get intrinsic gratification from that. Also, Layne would not ever have to depend on being supraphysiologically huge & lean to make a good living at what he does. He already has the track record in terms of academics & contests, as well as a good reputation for knowing his sh!t. It's silly to think mounds of cash ride on his physique. But beyond all this, Layne has been training consistently for over a decade, and he does not surpass the published "natural limits" of fat free mass index, nor does he surpass Casey Butt's calculations of natural limits. People who vehemently accuse Layne of being on AAS genuinely make me LOL.

If mounds of cash don't lie in his physique or how he built it, then what's he really accomplishing by suing icecream fitness? Personal gratification? We all know Jason DB went off the deep end, but if he's really spending all that money on a lawyer to sue Jason on principle, I'm at a loss. I think LN really does have a lot to gain from being muscular and strong. I don't know him personally, I guess I'm just cynical after finding out Rob Riches wasn't natty either. JK on Rob Riches.
