just remember who predicted itThe muscles i value most are the ones directly surrounding the spine, the hips, the scapula, the femur and the tibia... in that order.
Basically the whole body minus chest and biceps... pretty much the opposite of what your local gym looks like on a typical Monday.

it would make so much more sense if metabolic damage occured when you were low bodyfat levels, as in your body realizes you need the small fat reserves you have left and lowered your metabolism to compensate, not when you're 600lbs and 50% bodyfat or w/e. from what i've seen in vids explaining that seems to be the case anyway. for now I wouldn't worry about metabolic damage, just keep doing what you're doing and keep it at a sustainable level. if you notice a slowdown in progress earlier than expected then maybe you can look into it...

Metabolic rate drops with weight loss, nobody denies this. But the idea of 'damage' being done to your metabolism is just outright retarded.In that video Layne talks about people gaining fat rapidly at low calories. Ok, so if someone were to gain weight on 1000 calories, this implies that your daily energy expenditure is less than that. Say they're gaining 1lb per week, that's a surplus of 500 calories and 500 maintainence calories. There are no studies which suggest that this rapid FAT gain which Layne is describing is possible on such low calories. People will often gain huge amounts of water weight and glycogen after a show, and even fat from binging post show.
To reiterate: your metabolic rate drops when you lose weight, your metabolism will not be damaged. There is not science to back up 'metabolic damage'. Layne is wrong.Last edited by CH3WYYY; 06-05-2013 at 05:43 AM.

I just made this name because I found this thread from another forum. I just started a workout program and diet routine on June 1st and just want to say that you are a huge motivational tool I use to keep positive and mentally tough to keep working out. Its only been 5 days but its been an awesome 5 days because I try to be as positive as you are about the whole thing.
I was at 330 on June 1st, so confirmed FA here saying please keep it up because you're an awesome inspirational guide for me.
