need some tips on snatch. when weights get near my 1RM (85%+) my snatch loses all efficiency. I can't get under the bar fast enough, because I'm used to pulling the snatch so high enough that I'd power snatch it, not sure if you understand what I mean.
notice how I pull it real high and then drop under the bar? it's like my body wants to stay in the comfort zone or something by not reacting fast enough.
how can I fix that? also, what're some good drills/exercises to improve my hip extension?

Long time, no post. Hopefully I can win state, I have the ability, but the only downside is now that I put more of my time into shot put/discus I don't lift nearly as often as I should.
I noticed something though, out of the top 5-10 guys in my state, I probably have the lowest bench by at least 75 lbs. Thank you olympic lifts god6'0 249 @ 18 years old in AVI
Goals @ 225 or Less
365 Incline BP, 500 Paused Squat, 400lb C&J,300Lb Snatch

Yeah, I found that these are really important to do as they can really help you prepare for those cleans where you don´t catch the bounce.
I front squat twice a week and on one of these I dedicate to paused variants, my current best is 10kg below my non paused front squat:
(about half way through)Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

feces ijustwantedtosaythankyou - did broomstick (pvc pipe actually) snatch work on thursday night and on friday i magically had real hip extension for the first time ever. my third pull speed has probably tripled. too bad now i can only power snatch any weight i've ever worked with.training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=153696161&page=51

edit: A little anecdote for you peoplez:
I was shooting j's with a friend of mine today and he was constantly missing. Fast forward about a half hour, were playing 1 on 1 (he creamed me, i blow harder than a hurricane in november) and he was sinking them left and right. The difference? HE STOPPED THINKING ABOUT SHOOTING AND JUST SHOT. And there's my message for the day, shut your mouth and mind up and lift.
