Hey guys, I'm thinking of entering a novice teen comp at around the 5th of January next year and I am curious how many weeks out do I look like now. I'm currently on a cut and at this point of time, it is about 19.5 weeks out.
I have been toying with the idea of starting a 4-6 week short clean bulk (excess of 200-300 calories above maintenance) at the 19 week out mark, then proceed to cut all the way till show time with 13-15 weeks left.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as this would be my first show.

Wow, I always felt I was about 10 weeks out, seems like I'm around 6-8 weeks out instead, which is a huge motivator for me ! Appreciate the feedback guys ! Thank you very much. Alright, I'll start a bulk from 19 weeks out to around 12-13 weeks out with the aim for gaining lean muscle with minimal fat gains and also to restore my metabolism levels back to normal. Anyway, a little quick update, found out that my hammies are starting to show striations now. Previous photos above and the current ones below are 10 days apart, really surprised how much difference 10 days made ! Might be a posing issue though haha

If i were to compete in a normal weight category then yes, bantamweight.
The category I'm looking at for this comp is the below 170cm category. It involves weight/height restrictions:
" The competition will be divided into two categories: Up to 170cm and above 170cm category. Below are 3 examples of how the height and weight formula work on determining whether a participant is qualified to join a particular category.
Up to 170cm category
Height in cm minus 100 + 2 = weight allowed
e.g. i) 165 cm minus 100 = 65 + 2 kg = 67 kg
e.g. ii) 169 cm minus 100 = 69 + 2 kg = 71 kg
e.g. iii) 170 cm minus 100 = 70 + 2 kg = 72 kg
* So those who are 165cm tall, they must weigh below 67kg to participate in the up to 170cm category "

4 weeks out:
Currently 2 weeks out:
Currently 2.2 weeks out. Yesterday my caloric intake was at 1650, dropped it down to 1600 today and intend to keep it this way till one week out for fat loss, then I'll not go for fat loss anymore and simply go through glycogen depletion and carb loading at 1 week out. My fat and carb intake are at times not consistent as I adjust according to how my body responds at this point, at times refeeding twice a week when needed.
Estimate of macros on non lifting days:
150g Protein
160g Carb
40g Fat
Macros on lifting days:
165g Protein
200g Carb
30g Fat
Supps:
Multi Vit / Mineral
Vitamin C + Zinc
Dymatize Elite Whey Protein
Universal Creatine
Universal Atomic 7
Musclepharm Assault (days I use this I do not use creatine)
Flaxseed Oil
Any criticism on anything regarding posing/physique/nutriion or anything is highly appreciated ! I'm curious as to how you guys glycogen deplete, so feel free to share your experiences!Last edited by Pullup17; 12-19-2012 at 07:10 PM. Reason: describe more about prep

Not from the rear yet, I can see them from the sides though, so I'm really hoping that the remaining 9 days of fat loss is enough for a glimpse of them to appear from the rear, otherwise I would opt to going through a proper depletion/carbing up process during peak week with what I have rather than jeopardize my peak week just for an extra few days of fat loss. Would you recommend this approach ?

Yup it was my first comp, it was a very fulfilling and enriching journey, prior to the comp, i had never ever seen my abs before. Decided to compete once I felt I looked proportionate with size that I was happy with after my dat dere dreamer's bulk a year ago. I was in a caloric deficit for much of 2012, 38 weeks of cutting and only 14 weeks of bulking. Of course this was split up into several phases so as to prevent my metabolism from stalling. Anyway, once i decided to compete one year out, training took on a whole new level as every rep, every set and every workout meant something now and it would contribute to how I placed. I probably learned more about my body throughout this one year prep than what I had learnt over the past few years.
I learnt what sort of food my body reacts to the best, that overtraining is more often than not harder to suffer from than what many have said, I do not really need as much protein as I thought I would need, that carbs are the most important nutrient during a prep for me personally, which exercises suit me best and most importantly, the social and psychological aspects, I learnt how to control my temper, irritations, cravings, learnt how to better handle stressful situations at work or anywhere with much more composure while on a caloric deficit, learnt how to juggle work, training and a social life and also appreciating the people around me much more after all that they've been through with me.
Here's my posing routine ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GzPaP2oMgo
