    Thumbs up ***MISC Overhead Squat Competition***(BB.com Products and Mod Reps)

    As the title says this is an overhead squat competition sponsored by Bodybuilding.com. The Top 3 Lifters at the end of the competition will win 5 Bodybuilding.com Brand Products of their choice.

    RULES

    1. Squats must be to parallel or below depth. That means: Hip crease at or below top of patella.Before starting the lift the weight must be overhead with elbows locked. Grip width doesn't matter as long as the weight is clearly over the top of your skull. Knees must lock out each rep.

    2. Weigh in must have a verifiable Date/Time(such as a newspaper clipping, phone, shot of a BB.com post made that day, etc.), your username, and Misc Overhead Squat Comp. Video yourself getting on the scale then the weight the scale shows. No pictures. Use an easy to read quality scale.

    3. The LIFT must take place within 24 hours of the weigh in. Combining the vids together would be great(youtube editor makes this easy) but it is not required. A new weigh in must be done for each entry. You must verify the time/date of the lift as well to confirm the 24 hour rule. Please keep the vids as short as possible.

    4. You must use your Wilk's 39(+/- 0.25) of your weigh in bodyweight for as many reps as possible. The caculator used for this contest will be this one: http://www.marylandpowerlifting.com/wilks.asp

    5. Knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and belts are accpetable. Knee wraps are not allowed.

    6. Entries must be made by 8PM Eastern Time on October 3rd, 2012. Anything past this time will not be accepted.

    7. ALL JUDGES RULINGS ARE FINAL. ANY DISPUTES WILL BE SETTLED BY THE OTHER JUDGE(S) VIEWING THE VID.

    Remember, you guys get as many entries as you want. And, unless you are planning on some kind of massive body weight change in the next 2 months the weight you are using is going to roughly stay the same. So let's get some vids in! Any questions about the Wilk's calculator or how that works ask Farley1324. For any other questions the judges will be happy to answer you. I plan on repping not only the winners but any entry I can. So get those vids in , Misc, and win some free stuff!!

    Fuarkkkk, that motivation. Started working on OHS too for snatches. How many squats do we do? If it is a 1 RM, what would be a good weight for a guy my weight 170?

    I dont get it.
    Find whatever weight gives you a wilks of 39 (or within .25 of 39). This takes trial and error. Mine comes out to around 140 lbs at my current 220 lbs bw. Then put that overhead and squat it for as many reps as you can.

    I dont get it.
    go to the calculator listed and put in your bodyweight and then put in weights until you get 39 on the Wilks score. for you it should be around 125ish

    I'm confused.. whatever gives you 39 wilks at your bodyweight? So for me at 258 I'd use 150? If I was flexible enough to do an OH squat that seems like it's fairly light.

    yes but it is for as many reps as possible. by the end of this i see a lot of 20-30 rep sets because of the lighter weight

    Overhead squat newb tip: Start practicing with a broomstick or PVC pipe. And stretch out your chest and work on thoracic extension. All the bros in here probably have overly tight pectorals that will pull your arms forward in the overhead position towards the bottom of the rep. Also, get those ankles loose. Heel cord flexibility is a must unless you have oly shoes.
