Just had an big argument with my wife over possible choice of gynecologist.
Her GP recommended a male gynae to her for check up saying that "males are better and gentler than females" and manages to brainwash her.
I cant understand why she would go with a male gynecologist when there are so many female gynae around?
I keep telling her the gynae test is very invasive and uncomfortable but she says its just a profession for him and she wants the best, while calling me narrow minded.
What does misc think?

I didnt start the argument, but it somehow escalated into that.
All i said is first choice, let's try female doctor.. she got so angry and said that should not even be a consideration.
And then i said most women would not be comfortable with seeing a male gynae for pelvic check and that made her burst up.

Going by your username, are you Muslim?
We are Muslim too - but for my wife this is a serious matter hence male or female does not play a factor
In fact she prefers male at this point thanks to her doctors advise. Says they are gentler and better at handling pregnancy (we are thinking of having a baby soon)

Yep, Alhumdullilah, am Muslim.
Again, she needs to think with her own brain. If you've been her only intimate partner - how does SHE know that the male gynae will be more gentler?
It's all faff to be honest.
I'm sorry, but your wife is not very smart if she just blindly follows what she's told. In fact, being Muslim, she has more of a reason to pick a female gynae than a male.
You have to remember, they all go through the same education, same training and are qualified professionals to conduct the examination. The GP's personal preference shouldn't be the deciding factor for your wife.Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;

her choosing a male over a female though is kind of weird; i can understand that if the woman had no choice because their was a shortage of female gynodocs but it seems that OPs wife isnt even considering her options. she wants the best..... well what constitutes best practices in the business? how would a doc know if male gynodocs are better than females? i would think that since a woman doc knows the sensitivities of her own body, she would all the more be considerate of her patient during the exams. a female doc would better relate to gyno issues than a male doc would.....
sounds to me that your wife is using this as an excuse to have another mans fist in her vag...US Navy Veteran

Honestly.... she might be right. I have had multiple ex's and my wife say the same exact thing and I in no way feel like any of them other than one was a scandalous cheating sloot that just wanted another dudes finger in her snatch... They also said female snootch Dr's tend to judge more as well.. whatever that means..idk. I don't fkn care.. its just like getting a physical by a female Dr I suppose... her feeling on my sack does nothing for me in that situation.

Alhamdulilah - It's refreshing to hear someone say this in today's age.
Yes, my thought process is same, wouldnt a female know more about female body?
For her comfort, arent females more comfortable with a female checking her privates as opposed to a stranger male?
We havent checked for best doctors but so far she has been recommended by her female GP to visit this male gynae

I have been to female gynecologist who was rushed, the experience was pretty painful and she was completely not sympathetic. This was for a routine pap smear.
I remember having this conversation with someone in the medical community. There is an opinion that male gynecologists have no idea how it feels, so they are more careful with any instruments.
I think you need to examine why you feel threatened by a medical professional who is a male examining your wife. Is it religion? Is it that you don't trust him to be professional, even though he is a medical professional? Is it that you think your wife has an ulterior motive by asking for this male gyne?

I am protective over my wife - of course I can't really warm up to the idea of an intrusive test being done on her but more than that, I almost had the mindset that a normal female would prefer a female gynae given a choice - so this came as a shock
its not about religion, it's not about him, it's not about my wife's motives - I just try to protect her when I can

it doesn't matter what I say. You're going to think that somehow this has to do with your woman's modesty.
He's a qualified medical professional whose job is to diagnose female reproductive issues and deliver babies.
He's not getting off on it and your woman is not a sloot.
Pick the doctor for your wife that you want regardless of what she thinks. It doesn't matter to me.
What if the female doctor is gay? Is there really a difference there, OP?Last edited by Thillygooth; 06-24-2016 at 08:58 AM.

Only read some of the comments, but you shouldn't care, OP. Why do you care? It's a doctor. I'm sure the guy isn't capable of getting turned on by sticking his fingers in a vag anymore if he ever was.
