srs.
i am aware that your body burns cals even after the HIIT session, but other than that, what if the cals you burn from the HIIT (+ hours after) equals the cals you burnt from the LISS session? wouldn't the same amount of cals burnt total result in the same loss in bf%?
someone aware me.

with HIIT your body will carry on burning fat for a good day or 2 after the workout, meaning you can constantly keep ur metablisim higher. where as with LISS this doesn't happen to such an extent. HIIT also increases the amount of HGH ur body produces for a good 1-2 hours after the workout

calories burnt are calories burnt. just because people say hiit is better does not make liss totally redundant. hiit is simply more efficient (more calories in less time).
a more effective form of liss would be to steadily increase the pace of your run. however then it would not be liss anymoreLast edited by bombdigity; 04-29-2011 at 12:17 PM.

Doing low intensity cardio for a long time especially before breakfast or after a workout isn't as muscle sparing as HIIT is. HIIT is done quickly and is very related to bodily chemical releases that weight lifting provides such as growth hormone.

I always do the high impact sprinting type stuff, and this kind of rapid fire but not very long intensity promotes muscle strength and explosiveness. Look at the build of a sprinter and a distance runner, and tell me who looks stronger. One is much faster and more explosive, but the distance guy has great (often much greater) endurance.
I wouldn't say HIIT is better for losing body fat, but it sure is better for keeping explosive muscles on your physique too, in my opinion. (and that higher muscle mass will raise base metabolic rate, no? Not always sure about how true that is)

just matter of efficiency..
everything you do expands energy, which you need to supply from your body's stoes of energy..
lol you could just move a chair up and down a staircase and you'll still "lose fat".. its just not the most efficient way to do it..
I do both low intensity and HIIT.. depends on fatigue level and whatever I feel like doing on that particular day..

I currently perfer LISS atm as well. Only do HIIT like once a week, LISS 2x. takintheeasywayout.jpg (IMO) lulz
but if time isn't a concern and if you take bcaa's or a protein shake beforehand, would that help perserve muscle?
besides if you perform LISS at a low intensity, don't you burn mainly fat?
higher intensity uses carbs mainly as source of fuel, low intensity usually uses fat as fuel source. right? remember, i'm not considering time as a variable in this.
link or anything that says HIIT leads to elevated levels for that long?--Puts hand on ass and blows protein farts and sniffs it crew

yea this is true, hiit doesnt burn muscle, it builds it in fact look at sprinters versus marathan runners, long distances burn muscle for energy

Not true, HIIT is more muscle sparing than LIT. Your only doing HIIT for 10-15 minutes...if you treat your HIIT sessions like a weight lifting session (pre+post workout meal) then muscle will be spared. If you think about it an HIIT session is very similar to a weight lifting session, both high intensity, both are anaerobic, both increase growth hormone and when you do HIIT you go for 15-25 seconds and take a rest...sounds a lot like doing a set with weights and then resting until the next set.
