The thing is great but it seems to be rarely talked about.
If one of the biggest negatives of going to a new platform not having your games, it has the potential to get more people involved in PC gaming, get PC gamers more interested in buying an Xbox.
It also has the ability to draw customers away from Steam.
The Xcloud promise that they haven't delivered on will also mean you would be able to stream your games on so many different devices too (if it ever happens).
The biggest problem being right now is that most of the games seem to be on Game Pass anyway.
It seems like Microsoft has a finger in every pie but instead of making the most of it, they're more interested in putting trannies in a pirate game.

Why don't Microsoft lean into the Play Anywhere feature more?

Because all of their games are already play everywhere. They have no exclusives.

Already have. Every Play Anywhere games have been purchased through Microsoft.
Why would I buy a game I can only play through Steam, when I can have one that will work on Windows and consoles?
The only argument would be that it's cheaper because it's not like Steams program is any better.
Can't see Steam making a console anytime soon. Didn't really work well for them last time.

Kinda wild of one Xbox's core strategies with GamePass was play anywhere and PlayStation beats them to the marker with a dedicated streaming handheld. Do they even have GanePass apps on any TVs yet that can stream games? Seems like their ability to execute on this is about as bad as it could be.
Years of Sony decimating MS in sales and you still make dumb comments like this. It's been light for Sony lately for sure, but clearly their output is still dominating the competition when your average consumer looks at the two consoles and decides what software library is more appealing to them.12-5-23
