Is it normal to feel it more in your lower back then in your legs after doing squats?

depends how much you're feeling it.
Your low back is statically contracting to keep your torso upright (w/ weight on your shoulders) throughout the movement.
It should not feel overly fatigued as if you just got done doing direct low back work.-

Depends on the type of squat you are doing, and your form. A form check vid would be very helpful.
I would guess that you are rounding your back - work on keeping your lower back straight or even slightly arched for the entire movement and you shouldn't feel it as much there.My Journal (RIP 05/11 - 09/13):
