I am spinning my wheels (gaining mass) and I think I know why...am I right?!

so here's the thing, i've always hovered in this kinda built/kinda soft phase. mainly b/c i can't seem to stick to a really solid diet and gym plan. sure, i'll eat great during the week and be right around my 2300 calorie maintenance, but then on weekends i'll go off the rails.

    OR

i'll be doing great in the gym (i work out at work on a 3-day/week split) but then friday comes and i have to go somewhere/do something and i'll only hit the gym 2x/week that week.

    so, 2 strikes against me.

still...i have some solid mass/strength since i've been at this so long.

here's the other thing. i'm deathly afraid of eating too high OVER my ~2300 calorie maintenance that i think i perpetually stay in a relative "in-between" stage. yea, i guess it looks like i lift, but to other gym rats, i'm not impressive in the least.

so...am i right in my assumptions? should i be making sure to hit the gym at least 3x/week (Tom Mutaffis split) and eating like a horse? should i stay at right about maintenance?

    what do?!

Eat at a small surplus then- try small if you want to minimize the fat gain at even like 2500 and monitor your weight, gaining 1-2lbs a month.

We've all wheel spun before. As nyt said eat in a small surplus and continue what you're doing. The more you worry about gaining a bit of fat the more you'll eat at maintenance and go nowhere.

If you're not comfortable where you are fat% wise then cut for a bit and then switch to a bulk.
