A friend of mine at the gym said I could only get so big. He said that it would be hard for me to put on a lot of mass, because he thinks I have a small frame. Is there such a thing? I'm 5'll and 168lbs. I'm not trying to get as big as people that compete, but I want to put on muslce mass.

you can still build up good muscle.
a lot of pros or semi pros have a relatively small frame but are huge as hell.
just keep on training and you'll succeed!It's not as hard as you think it is.
Educate yourself, but stop thinking too much...
