And I've had the displeasure of working with a bunch, and it's even more evident after seeing their work ethic that they were a DEI hire.

Where are these jobs? I've been looking for a new job (remote) for about 5 months.
All that happens is I get an offer, perhaps an interview or two and suddenly i'm either ghosted, or they "fill the role internally" or they weren't able to accrue the funding for the position.

Regardless of DEI hires, all the airlines are dropping requirements to become pilots because there's a huge shortage at the moment. If I recall they're not requiring a 4 year degree anymore but they're requiring more training hours in the air among other things.
