Walked a new trail at sunrise – starting at Råda Säteri, a mansion type building from 1770. The place has had activity since the 14th century at least. But stone age findings are not far away, so ofc ppl have been here since forever.

Lots of rain and water here for the past 2 weeks.

Great shots Steffo, loving them. Mark still dealing with the rain.. That's a lot of water. Some crazy winds in some parts too I hear.



Spent most of the week on the houseboat. A few years ago I took a couple of members of the media in the bush to do a story on winter camping, later on I took them in for a week long canoe trip. Since then we have become good friends, they were total green horns to the outdoors and now go canoeing, fishing, camping, snowshoeing etc.. with their families and friends.

Occasionally, they will text me to see what's going on which usually ends up in us getting together and they make the long drive to spend a few days. That’s what happened this week, they only came up for a couple of days but kept extending their stay, The hiking, fishing and kayaking has been great. Amazing weather.

It was fun but looking forward to a visit free summer doing the free spirit thing without any commitments. We kept this summer open for that specific reason.


My buddy dropped by and stayed for a night and I got to try his new kayak. What a rig.

Way too much of a Kayak for me but damn that thing is fun and it has pedal power and e powered so you know that sh!t intrigues me.

Ok enough goofing around, I got to do the rest of the unpacking (the not so fun part)

MT, your houseboat sounds amazing. Especially up where you are. That is a super kayak. About $6000, but very nice and cool propulsion system. I'm going with the Pelican

Took this today. Two young Black Bellied Whistling Ducks. They got very close to me and they didn't flinch. 30 feet. Their first human and since I moved slowly, they knew they were safe. They are gorgeous and orange.



Little Raccoon curious about my trail cam. Animals including deer can hear it snap pics, but humans cannot.

Mark those ducks look big, great shot, I have never saw one of those. That coon is keeping an eye on you LOL


Lazy Sunday here, sitting on the dock having a coffee, with a line in the water listening to the world wake up. Peaceful, even the fish aren't bothering me ha ha...

MT, amazing shots and the water is so pristine.

The water was so high early last week I had at least 20, 10+ pound Grass Carp swimming in my front yard trying to get away from the current. Water level is way down finally and to be truthful, I would rather have rain than a drought. Last 2 years in a row we had droughts and heat waves. La Nino stuck around that long.

Yes, those ducks are big and those are very young. Full grown Black Bellied Whistling Ducks are probably about 1.5X bigger than Mallards.

Beautiful pics Mr Pockets, those lakes are like blue glass they're so smooth, and clear water too. When you're out on the water how deep can you still see the bottom, that looks some good visibility

I'm not really a gun nut, but I do have a few. When my dad died, his Remington Sportsman 48 became mine. It's a recoil operated gun that fit me really well. I stupidly shot a bunch of clay pigeons with it (a few thousand for sure), and basically, wore it out. I should have kept it for just quail hunting and it would have lasted me a lifetime. ANYWAY, I've been looking to find one just like it and I bought one 10:43 Monday morning from GunBroker.com. This was my first online transaction like this, but I'm amazed at how efficient this type of "shopping" can be.

The seller is a pawn shop in MD, and the gun must ship to an FFL and I chose one near me in Southern Indiana. My FFL called me this morning to tell me the gun has already arrived!?!? I still have to go by to fill out the paperwork which they say could be minutes or longer (depending on background AND how common my name is), but WOW. This is service that rivals Amazon Prime

The gun I bought has a 28" full choke so I'm going to replace it with dad's 26" improved cylinder so it will be a little bit his ;-)

Great way to buy anything you are shopping for and have it shipped near to you. I have not done it but I know how it works. My brother has done it and it is pretty easy.

Tom, wish I could trade temps with you...26-27C indoors as well everyday - have to sit with a fan next to me. Lol Mark, 81F is scorchingly hot for me these days.

Failed a bit in several series and some aspects that I tried edit out. Still have to read up on some things to understand some distortions etc. Here are a few anyways. Thought the yellow one had a cool design. No clue what exactly they are this time though.

Saw the front half of a 737 yesterday, in about 6m depth water (sunk there on purpose) visibility was only about 4m so it was all pretty murky.

What surprised me was that it'd only been there 4 years and it was already thoroughly covered in a colony of freshwater muscles. Nature reclaiming already!

Went today with just the 300 mm/f4, wanted to see the difference in look from the 90 mm clinical look of the macro lens. I like the telephoto lens look a lot more for just normal walk around shots – blowing out the background and making it look more artistic. Then I will shoot macro more at home I think, in a more controlled place for details etc. But will pass on macro in the field..

This pic from today is not macro, 0.3X with the 300 mm and cropped in.

Rained alot today, but was prepared.

Got a few decent ones, but failed a lot as well this last time around. Will have to work on getting better at the compositions as well – perhaps not hurry as much and look things over more carefully before shooting. I guess as with anything, it's a matter of getting the reps in a way. Hopefully I can share some animal pics soonish again, but these macro/flower pics have been a good practice I think.
