    whey protein before a workout?

I'm taking my ON 100% Whey post-workout, but I've also read that it's crucial to take it pre-workout as well (about 20g). My question is whether I should take it immediately before working out or like 20 to 30 minutes before. I read in M&F that I should take it immediately before I start working out, but most people on this forum say about 30 minutes before your workout. Once and for all, I'd like to know the answer.

20-30 minutes before...lets it soak in a bit so you're not just getting the benefits for the end half of your workout!

I eat 2-2.5 hours out and then drink a shake mixed with milk 45-60 minutes prior to lifiting so it will clear my stomach in case i want to take an energy drink. Not sure if that is ideal or not but I always feel properly nourished and full of energy.

If I eat solid food I wait approx 3hrs before training. If I take a whey protein shake I wait 30min to 1hr before training to make sure it has cleared the stomach. I do this because I have always been told that the body draws blood to the stomach to aid digestion and away from the limbs. Seems to me that training on a full stomach would not be a good idea. I'm sure someone will dispute this but you can draw your own conclusions.

i always go with BCAA's or PRE-workout supps ( RPM, White flood ) for PRE. but i dont think its a bad idea taking Protein before a workout. i would take it right before the workout

I personaly eat a meal 1.30-2 hrs before (breakfast) and eat a lot. This gives me time to digest it. I cant workout if im hungry or on a full stomace. if I drink a shake prework out, depending on the brand I can feel little reflux. I CANNOT drink a preworkout shake and do my abs on the same day.

But I agree, if you are going to take a shake, take it like 20-30 min before my workout and I never feel water loged
