    bicep tendinitis?

I went to the doctor (general practitioner) about my shoulder hurting so much from doing chest exercises. It wasn't a huge issue but I knew it was a warning sign that this pain would get worse if I kept it up. My shoulder hurts when it's out in front of me and when i raise it up a little higher, other than that it doesn't really hurt. So my doctor said it's tendinitis in my bicep tendon and I should stay away from an exercises that would aggravate it for around 3 weeks and take some anti-inflammatory medicine. Given what I've told you guys, does that sound like the right thing? I thought it would've been a week rotator cuff or something, but I'm not a doctor... :P

Same thing happened to me. Had a lot of pain doing dips and bench. The upper biceps tendon of the long head runs through a groove in the humerus. That's why it feels like it's in the middle of your shoulder.

The long head is involved in shoulder flexion(i.e raising your arm in front of you), which is why it hurts when you press. My doc had me take 2 weeks off pressing, followed by 2 weeks at 50%. Pain went away but I dropped weighted dips.

Any exercise that hyperextends the glenohumeral joint should be avoided, such as dips, incline DB curls, deep bench press/CGBP, etc.

Overhead presses never bothered me though....

Cortisone weakens the tendon. In an already weak and injured area, it's asking for trouble IMO.
