Eric bugenhagen deadlifts in the 700-720 range. Dude pulls like 850 behind the back deadlift (barbell hack squat) and is pulling close to 900 on trap bar. It's impressive. Can't imagine there is a ton of carryover cause the weight is centered differently and more of a block pull range of motion. But is it worth doing? Does it hit the quads harder?

It feels like a less awkward jefferson squat. Yes to hitting quads harder.
I personally don't like them. Even though it's less awkward that a jefferson squat, it still feels awkward enough for me to choose other things instead.Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!
The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

That bar has especially high handles. You can get bars with lower handles in the high position and most have a set of handles even with the sleeves like a straight bar but perpendicular.
I like doing them. Currently doing high handles but will probably switch back to low in the next few weeks. Hits my upper back really well for whatever reason.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #79 ▪█─────█▪

No I think it's the gayest way to deadlift srs
Basically an excuse to do 1/4 squats while simultaneously copping out on doing real deads. If you supplement real lifts with it that's fine but lots of people completely replace deads and even squats with it and that is some pooseyboi chitHTC

I think it's one of the best options for the average Joe trainer because almost anyone can do it within one training session. For traditional deads, it takes awhile to build the form and mobility to get to that low bar position for many. Personally, I like the trap bar because it keeps me more upright and I have no interest in competing in powerlifting.
If given the option, my squat preference would be front or box squat. My bench would be floor press or football bar press. My deadlift would be trap bar. My overhead press would be the push press.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=180003183&p=1635918623#post1635918623

I'm guilty of that sh*t too, waiting for somebody to powder my nuts cuz I did 20 reps of whatever the **** on the bench. Big f*king deal. It is all relative." G Diesel

I only use the trap bar these days. With barbell, when you're going heavy, all it takes is a 1/2" swing in the wrong direction and your back can get tossed. You never have that problem w/ a trap bar, at least I haven't.
Is it as good as a barbell dead? Probably? I don't know. If not, I think the safety of it makes up for it. Assuming someone isn't training for a competition, I see no reason why not to use the trapbar. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I think it’s a great exercise, but probably the one that is most influenced by the bar. For example something with high grips can take away a lot of range of motion and reduce effectiveness. Depending on the design, it can also be awkward if you are tall and/or have long legs. But if your gym has a good one then I’d say yeah absolutely try incorporating it. I prefer it over traditional deads ans long as it anccomodates long legs… and as mentioned it is generally safer. Still have to be careful though because I have seen someone jack his back up doing them…though he was turning to look at a 9/10 walking by so I’m sure that is probably what did it.
