Best - The Super Mario Bros. movie. No woke nonsense, just a solid, family friendly movie that delivered on exactly what it was supposed to be.
Worst - Ghosted. Awful plot, terrible writing, action scenes that were so ridiculous they made the OG Arnold Terminator movies look halfway plausible in reality, and mind numbingly bad ending.

Best was probably Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning.
Worst has a few options. Expendables 4 was pretty bad. Fast X was bad from a critical perspective but still entertaining so I wouldn't pick that. Of ones that I've seen a bunch of scenes from but not the whole movie, I'd say The Marvels, Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, and 80 for Brady all look absolutely terrible. I've only seen one trailer from both The Meg 2 and Blue Beetle and those both looked awful. Although I'm a sucker for terrible shark movies so I might end up watching The Meg 2 lol.See Krackerjacked's sig

I've heard the new Godzilla movie is supposed to be really good, and I'm sure it is pretty good. Seen some big monster movie nerds talking it up, and I tend to take their word for that sort of thing. I want to give it a watch sometime, but I admittedly struggle with sitting through 2+ hours of subtitles for a movie I don't understand the language of whatsoever. Kinda a bummer in that sense, but only the Japanese can make a proper Godzilla movie anyway it seems.

Best-Killers Of The Flower Moon-honestly was so good it felt like it was only 2 hours-rather than three & a half & never dragged. De Niro unsurprisingly outshone DiCaprio, but the female lead outshone both of them & everybody else.
Worst-Gave up on Oppenheimer 30 minutes in. A childlike director who cannot develop characters, gives you no sense of who Oppenheimer was or why he was like that & just tries to distract with overbearingly loud music, edgy camerawork & special effects-like some music video. After 30 minutes I had zero idea of his upbringing, why he was interested in physics, why he tried to murder his teacher with a poisoned apple & why people were fawning over him-despite a guy in the next room actually being the one doing the work.Keep Crying Trump Mutts-Things Are Going To Get A Lot Worse For Him

Also heard Godzilla was excellent, but from what I've seen, my vote goes to Across the Spiderverse 🕷

Yeah, that one was weird. Could tell a woman directed it. Get past the shock value and there wasn't much there.
Poor Things would be top for me. Might not appeal to MISC, but thought Emma Stone f cking killed it in a challenging role.
Loved this movie, very trippy. Probably a love it or hate it movie, but personally connected with it.

Just saw that Barbie is nominated for Best Picture and Best Screenplay at the Oscars. As if their credibility wasn't already at an all time low, this pretty much seals the deal.
Also why are there 10 nominees for best picture? Kind of dilutes the distinction, IIRC there are usually only 5 or 6.See Krackerjacked's sig

There were good movies in 2023?
Learn something everyday I guess."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
