I know miscers troll and are like 200k. but things are getting so expensive with food, housing, insurance i don't think you can make it by unless you make minimum 50-60k. most people make less than that. how are people surviving? I remember when i was in college i could eat like a king every month for like $150. I don't think I can get that now for even $500

I rent in san diego and I need about 2100 per month to be even.
That includes some spending money so its not just sitting in a dark apartment.
That said, I dont live downtown or in a fancy place. Just a regular suburban apartment. There is a pool and laundry but thats it, no door man or view or any of that stuff.
No car payment either.
Not lavish by any means but I am just fine with it. I suppose I could make more but that would require going to work and I really dont want to do all of that if I dont have to.
I cook all my own meals and never go to restaurants or bars. i go to vegas twice a year and eat out and drink when I am there."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

I spend about 40k to live in a middle-class neighborhood. 3 bedroom house, new car, eat what I want, do what I want. So you could probably get by on $50k before taxes.
However on that income you better not have a health emergency or a car crash or kids or anything like that.
If you want to live in a small rural town I bet you can make it on $30k
