Mine is Boxer.
Best combination of family pet and protector.
They will love every single member of the family and will protect to the death.
Extremely tolerant of children.
Extremely protective of house and yard.
Seem to understand once someone is invited in, they can turn off the aggression but if your on the other side of the door you'd swear they are going to kill you.
I have respect for other breeds as well but don't think any can compete in that combination.
Breeds worth mention:
labs/goldens - Great family dogs but if some one breaks in or attacks you, they will watch you die and be best friends with attacker as well
german shepard - Extremely smart and good for training, great protection dogs but not as tolerant of children and tend to be one person dogs, excellent dog if your that one person but they can ignore the rest of the family
mastiffs - Really cool beefy looking dogs, lot of different variations, I believe most are fairly good for protection but not quite as tolerant of children (no personal experience but would love to learn more about them specifically the french and italian)
What's your breed of choice and why?

Like what I posted in my thread, familt and I had many dogs since I was a kid.
Golden, dacshund, huskies, bassetts, minipin, labs, german shepards, boxers.
All have their own personalities. Used to love huskies cuz independent and aesthetic. But emptional wise- good friend and companion, golden hands down. So sweet and loyal. Minipin too but can bark too much and cant be close even to family unless food. Lol.

Giant Schnauzer
Smarter and more athletic than a german shepard
Most loyal to owner of any dog
Extraordinarily protective and alert
You MUST physically and mentally stimulate this dog everyday...a simple walk in the park won't cut it. They love to work and to think and will seek your approval for any challenge met.
Perfect dogs for people looking to stimulate the growth of their pet. Anyone who wants a pretty coat to lay beside them on the couch should steer clear.

I love my Cocker Spaniels. Curious, playful, loving. Keep their hair short and their ears clean and you'll have a great dog for a long time.

Oh and I will add, like with most things in life, it depends on what you are looking for.
I am not looking for a guard dog, I live in a subdivision with security guards. But I am an introvert and treat dogs as my family/best friend. So Goldens are great for me. I also live near beaches, and they love it. Just lots of fur flying around. Eats like crazy.
Not a fan of small very hairy dogs or pitbull/bulldog/bully types.CHRISTMAS Forever Crew

When I was younger I took my car to a garage to be fixed, and it was old school, like an actual garage out of which the guy worked. He had found a bull mastiff along the side of the road dying and had it treated, kept it. That thing came walking up to me and I'm not going to lie, I was nervous because the whole setting looked straight out of Cujo. Big ol' bear laid his head in my lap and drooled until I petted him.

The pitbull, srs.
Inb4 degenerate
Inb4 Gangbanger
Inb4 Povertycel
They're laid back, very intelligent, and very affectionate. I'm not here to debate my preference of dog, but if I had my choice I'd choose a Pitbull every time. And CountryMike, they jaws don't lock FYI.No man is your friend

"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. I was nervous as ****, but too scared to say anything to him. Then my niece started crying, and I’m trying to quiet her down because I don't want to bother him. Pretty soon he walks over and asks what's wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry. He put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted up his shirt, and breastfed her right there in the salon. Chill guy, really nice about it."
