    Nutrition for Surgery Healing

Going in for surgery on Friday to repair full thickness tear in rotator. Anything in particular I should be eating to maximize/speed up/promote healing and recovery? Won't be training for a while obviously so was planning on keeping protein and fat at recommended minimums and mainly eat produce for carb/fibre sources. I was also thinking about maintaining a slight deficit as I've packed on some unwanted weight in the past year. Thoughts? Doc didn't seem in the know nutrition wise when I asked this.

I'd eat at least maintenance to help with healing, your body is under enough stress, no need to add a calorie deficit to that. Your main goal should be to get better fast and not bother with dropping a couple of pounds right now, you can do that later.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Definitely try to eat at maintenance to help with recovery. You don't want to really be in a deficit as it adds stress on the body. I would also say to eat a decent amount of carbohydrates for the energy your body will need to heal.
