Not really. Suppose someone committed a crime when they were 19 or 20. They did their time and are now in their fifties or sixties and are a responsible adult who contributes to their community, has a job, pays their taxes, and follows the law. They should be allowed to vote.
Kinda funny that the party of Jesus doesn't believe in forgiveness.
Note: The Virginia law permanently bars all felons. I would submit that there should be a pathway for them to be able to vote after a period of time and showing that they are a contributing member to society. Many of life's failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Well the victim has to live their entire life in fear. So should the criminal. I know a woman who was raped in a parking garage and she can't even go near one without getting flashbacks. Why does she deserve that but the guy who did it deserves to move on? Just because he did the crime at 19 doesn't make it any different - age discrimination is unacceptable btw.
I'll save my forgiveness for people who deserve it. Not for thugs.

If you've "paid your debt to society" by serving your sentence, you should get ALL of your rights back. If you can't be trusted with your rights, then you shouldn't be roaming around freely.

And forgiveness is forgiveness. Once someone has done their time and is a contributing member of society, they should have a path to be able to vote.
Again, I personally don't think it should be right away. The person should be able to show that they are now a contributing member to society and a period of time should have passed.
Republicans are just mad because this law disproportionately affects minority voters. They can only win by closing voting locations and shortening the time people have to vote. If they have such great ideas, why don't they want everyone to vote? Many of life's failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Glad to know that you think someone who is a degenerate and obtains a felony should some how have all the same rights as someone who is civilized and doesn't break the law. What rational are you using because it doesn't make sense to me. Let me give you a scenario using your logic. So four guys that are 19 rape your daughter multiple times. They go to prison and obtain felonies. With your logic they are given forgiveness after they serve their time so they should be able to have all liberties back like nothing happened and their felonies should be ignored. Is this truly your thinking?

This is why I hate early voting. It allows the cheaters to calibrate the results to their liking, based on early votes.
This is corruption of the highest kind. Creating 60k new voters in time to vote, probably most of them minorities who will vote democrat.Ave Christus Rex

Do you think felons should be able to own guns as well?
"Forgiveness" doesn't mean anything. The liberal obsession with criminals is beyond surreal. No wonder liberal cities are crime ridden.
If only liberals were getting murdered/robbed by the criminals they love I wouldn't care. But that doesn't always happen - conservatives are in danger as well.

Virginia politics in general are among the most corrupt in the country. That goes for both Republicans and Democrats.
Joe Morrissey, Bob McDonnell, Phil Hamilton, Levar Stoney, Tim Kaine, McAuliffe, the entire local government in Norfolk, the Elizabeth River Tolls fiasco(corrupt foreign company bought rights to toll 3 bridges, donated tens of thousands to Democrats), the list goes on and on.
The scary thing is, it goes on out in the open and they don't even try to hide it anymore.Misc Entrepreneur Crew
