Whats the one thing you tell yourself prior to a lift? For me it can be as simple as a quote, stiring up mad thoughts, or thinking of a ****ty day/ex lol. I just want to get a compilation together and that'd help us all. Maybe something like "The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it."

Courage is the knowledge of what ought to be endured. ~ Philo
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

"Ok Dave. This next set is..well..hypertrophy. You have a spot, so it's not like you can't bust your ass off it. After all, your only lifting <insert pounds here> to work your <insert muscle group here> to make them ****ing huge. For god sakes, sstop talking to me and lift! Look, the workout will be done soon. And if you keep talking and keep thinking about the weight, your rest wont be 20 seconds, itll be 2 hours. ITS NOT THAT HEAVY, GO ****ING LIFT IT. Biotch I bet you cant lift it.......hahahahaha YOU CANT LIFT IT YOUR STILL TALKING"
And then....I lift it. For 6-8 reps. And then after I say to myself "HAHAHAHAHA TOLD YOU I COULD"...and I take a drink of water. And I do the same thing next set.

I dont find that i have to motivate my self for lifting as much as for cardio. In my head when im doing cardio, im always thinking of stopping. Pisses me off, i try to forget about even thinking. Try to blank out everthing. If that doesnt work i focus on a point where im running to and keep looking. Damn cardio!

"come on baby, come on comeoncomeoncomeon, come on baby, this is what i need, huge (what ever it is i'm working out), that's what the judges look for, that's what i need, that's how i'm gunna win, come on baby, lets go, lets go!"

I only do this VERY rarely, very very very rarely, because if I did it constantly, it wouldn't work. I have a mentally handicapped brother who's my twin, and right before I go real heavy, I think of someone making fun of him and that PISSES ME OFF so then I can exert myself harder.
Typically though, I just think of the entire world being hinged upon me lifting the weight... like all there is is me and the iron, nothing else, and I focus on moving it.17 years old, 5'8.5", 155lbs

I swear if he says that again i'm gonna ram a 40lb DB down his throat... how the PHUCK am i menna concentrate FFS?! >''If You Fail To TRY, You TRY To Fail.''

I lvoe the animal pak ads
usually I play distrbed/manson/etc the whole way to the gym, system bumping and LOUD
get there, stretching I visualize my goals, and concentrate solely on teh weights at hand
before the lift I breathe heavy and rapid, get pissed off at the weight as much as possible
then as I go to do it I imagine my next strongman or powerlifting contest, imagine the other competitors doing the weight and forcing myself todo it
basically I use the saying "Let Noone Outwork You Today"
