My diet is getting better but I stay hungry. Lots of chicken breasts and veggies. Snacks are good. Sometimes, they just aren't enough. A big McDonald's burger feels like it would fix me up.

Yeah, fast food is satiating because it has lots of protein and fat. There are whole foods that deliver the same macros and the same satiety. You don't need to live on chicken and broccoli.
You also don't need to eliminate fast food. Fit some of into your macros.
The other solution to managing hunger is Intermittent Fasting, see www.leangains.com.

If a burger from mcdonalds would fill you up, why wouldnt a burger made at home from lean meat on a whole grain roll with fresh veggies fill you up just as much, all the while having a better macro/micro profile ?
(im also gonna add that I went from 230 to < 200 eating a FULL 1 pound burger made @ home EVERY single day)
Eating clean doesnt meant it has to suck

hahahaha if i run 3 miles i think 'ok i can afford to eat a mcchicken now'
but seriously, if all you do throughout the day is sit and think about how you're on a restricted calorie diet, life will suck and be full of temptation. i eat a lot of subway, or make my own subs, burgers, etc. but i also fit some fast food into my diet throughout the week as well. i also have snacks to help supplement my diet to keep it interesting, including 90 calorie bars/brownies, popcorn, jerky, ice cream, etc. it's up to you to do some research to find lots of low/moderate calorie meals and snacks that have good nutrition profiles to accommodate your diet. it also gets a little 'easier' to stay on track when you start getting leaner and seeing good definition (faded abs and quad muscle separation), as you'll be less likely to binge out of fear of slowing down the awesomeness. this isn't to say you WON'T have the tendency to cheat when you're lean, it just gets more rewarding to not cheat as you can see the progress a lot smoother.
aside from all that, pick up some hobbies. with my job, when it gets busy, it gets REAL easy to forget about hunger. trust me. and when i'm not working, i'm either lifting weights (4x a week), riding the Ninja out somewhere, play some guitar, or vegetating in my bed while typing on BB.com. the more you have to occupy your free time, the easier it'll be to 'forget' about your hunger pangs.Powerlifter convert. I am eating 2 burgers tonight for 600 calories.
pepperidge farms very thin whole wheat - very tasty bread at 40cal per slice - toast in oven
a little dry rub on the 93/7 burgers, quarter pound per patty, broil or grill, stick 2% cheese of your favorite kind on there at the end.
shredded lettuce, mustard, A1 bold and spicy.
2 burgers for 600 calories and about 70g prot. make it 3 for 900 calories with over 100g protein and I promise you'll be full and can EASILY put that in a macro budget.Stern Crew

sadly, i could easily still eat more after 3 of those burgers...i consider anything less than a full pound of meat to be a tease :/ ....ravenous hunger be damned. but i would certainly do it your way on a cutting diet, make the burgers myself instead of ordering out for the most part.

it took a while before that kind of dinner started satisfying me but it actually does these days.
I got about 12-13 more pounds before I will eat at maintenance for a bit and then finally a slow bulk. I sit here and try to figure out how i can actually eat 3,000 calories again lol...but I think I'll manage it!Stern Crew

Its not that simple.
Fats are filling
Protein is filling
Fiber (a carbohydrate) is filling
Carbohydrates can filling, albeit if theyre not high in fiber theyre usually less filling per calorie than fats/protein.
The key is to experiment and do what works for you.
I know for some people a couple of chicken breast (protein) and theyre full out of their mind. For others itll do nothing
Same thing with foods like peanut butter (nuts) etc.
Fiber is usually the best bang for your buck calorie/fillingness wise simply because fiber gets digested differently and or blows up in your stomach creating fullness. But fats/protein work well too.
Its all about doing what works for you

There are always appetite suppressants too. I mean, I lot of it does depend on what you're trying to achieve. I have a natural suppressant as well as PGX on hand. The key to them is drinking tons of water which is really what you should be doing anyways. Often times people think they are hungry when really they are thirsty. So next time you feel hungry, drink a big ole glass of water first then see how you feel.

If you've recently changed your diet and weren't counting cals then you're probably taking in less cals than before. Your body and mind get used to a certain amount of cals and when you consume less the alarms go off. The hungerbell. It's signaling you that you're not eating as much as usual.
If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough
