    Bench press and shoulder press on the same day?

    So currently i'm on a SS kind of routine since I am a beginner. I was wondering if it is okay to do bench press and shoulder press one the same day 3x a week. Everyone really alternate between those two.

    As a beginner your muscles won't be strong enough to put too much strain on your tendons and ligaments, so I don't think it should be that much of a problem. Doing both 3x a week still seems like a lot, though. I'm assuming you have heavy and light days, maybe alternate which exercise you do heavy and which you do light, like maybe Monday is heavy bench with light shoulder press, Wednesday is light bench with heavy shoulder press, and Friday is medium weight both or something. What program are you doing?

    thats a lot of front delt work there. really watch that RC bro. warm up properly and dont push through the pain if your shoulder is hurting. pecs are much harder to injure they should be fine. honestly id take shoulders down to 2x personally

    what variation of SS are you doing? From what I recall bench and ohp rotate. meaning you do one one workout and the other the next workout.

    A lot of overlap with Delts and Tris, but it should be fine as long as you lift smart. Don't lift too heavy, and if you feel joint pain, give it a break.

    When I did a Push/Pull with bench and OHP on the same day, OHP went up 20 pounds in 5 months. Now That I have a separate shoulder day it's gone up 25 pounds in about 2.5 months. So I would say no, don't do them together.

    Thanks for the replies guys! I have experienced pain in my shoulder when shoulder pressing so from now on i'm not going to do them on the same day. (benching and sp that is)
