Hard to get into as it's not a big national american sport. Its not something we really grow up with, so we aren't as interested as an adult.

My personal reasons:
1. Flopping/Diving. All sports have it in some measure. Soccer has elevated it to Art, oftentimes to the point that it destroys the flow of the game and overwhelmingly impacts the final result.
2. Lack of a video review system. Arbitrary and often incorrect decisions play a huge role, particularly with penalty kicks and yellow/red cards.
3. Club soccer, at the league level, is boring 4 out of 5 years. The same few clubs dominate: Barca, Man U, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, etc. Whenever a promising young player is nurtured through by a small club, he's wrested away by one of the aforementioned.

Dont know about domination but they would surely be in the top 10 nations at the very least. The thing is american kids dont really dream on becoming professionall football players when they grow up as much as they dream becoming NBA/MLB/NFL etc players.
Also, in what way exactly is Zidane better than Messi? lol not even close.

if they aren't good at it, they dont bother participating, or just hate it.
srs, some world-wide sports; Cricket, Rugby (none of that padding protective bullchit), Soccer, etc. The entire world play these sports, yet America hate them and it's because they suck at them.
if the world started playing baseball, nfl etc as a recognized world-wide sport (and will inevitably excel at it) then Americans will hate that and move onto national bowling or some thing.

Op, majority of americans dont bother to acknowledge how difficult it is to play, they relegate it to "kicking a ball back and forth." when in reality they couldnt make a straight line pass if their life depended on it; i used to play football as a kid and we all called it ghey etc then i tried playing after watching a few 06 cup games and its insane how difficult it is needless to say all my bros are fans now; i try to catch a good match every chance i get.

Soccer is a contact sport. Try play it with some Euro brahs, instead of uncoordinated Americans.
brb all you need is to kick and chase the ball. lol
Everyone who has played soccer seriously have had at least a few bones fractured. Those *******s diving give it a bad name, but no1 dives in non-pro games.
