Woman Rolls Up Window @ Police Checkpoint - Cop Shoots and Kills Her

State police say Cook rolled up the window, catching the officer's arm inside, and then dragged him.

Buchele says it didn't happen that way. He describes an encounter which looked and sounded like the officer shooting a person a point blank range, not because he feared for his life, but because the woman did not obey his order to stop rolling up the window.

"He was right next to the vehicle. He had one hand on the door handle and one hand on his weapon. And she was rolling the window up. And they were exiting out of the parkng lot.

The window was half way up he said 'stop or I'll shoot.' I really didn't think he was going to do it. But she got the window all the way up and that's when he shot. And then she took a left out of the parking lot here and he stepped out in the street and fired five more times," said Buchele.

Buchele says the officer was not dragged and that he shot her before she drove away. He says he didn't have his arm caught because the officer's left hand was on the door handle and right hand was holding a weapon. Also, he says he distinctly saw her roll up the window all the way before the officer shot out the glass and killed her.

edit: wasn't a checkpoint. She was 'suspicious' in a parking lot and rolled up the window upon questioning.

Of course. You better do anything that someone pointing a gun at you says. Did this really need to be said? That doesn't take any responsibility away from the thug that murdered her.

If you try to hit the cop with your car, the car is considered a dangerous weapon and use of lethal force is justifiable, eventhough you are not armed with a gun/knife/bomb. The manner you are trying to drive away, even if you only mean to get away and not mean to run the cop down, can get you shot. It has happened. Justifiable use of force. A moving car is considered a dangerous weapon.

So, she rolls up the window with his arm locked and then proceeds to move the car? Sorry. I'm all for cops who violate rules being hammered, but you don't do stupid **** like that. I can't say whether I'd done the same thing or not, but I'm really not sure what options he had, for all he (and us) know, she would have sped off with his arm locked and killed the guy.

Cop was in the right. Chick was in the wrong and paid for it.

edit: read a little closer and it's a "he said, she said" kind of thing. If the cop was lying to cover his ass, then **** him as hard you can. Try him for murder and put him away for life.

I'm surprised there isn't dash cam vid of this already. If she rolled his arm up in the window and took off, i have no sympathy for her. If he just fired because she rolled up the window, he should be charged with murder and dealt with as such.

It says this happened in a parking lot, so hopefully there are some surveillance cameras that caught the situation.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if there's anymore witnesses/evidence to find out who was telling the truth.

I would imagine they could examine the window and tell where it was shot and determine if it was rolled all the way up or only partially up. Hope they do and if this guy shot the window when it was all the way rolled up, and he's lying, then I hope he is tried for murder.

His account also starts out with 'i heard arguing outside'. So he wasn't outside when this encounter started. There's no telling what happened between the time the cop got there and the witness heard arguing inside whatever structure he was in.
